(record review)THE CASUALTIES-Written In Blood

The Casualties have a new record out and I listened and reviewed it for our zine. Read on and check it out if you love hardcore punk!

folder

These long time running American hardcore/streetpunk legends had really hectic last couple of years. Besides relentless touring making them one of most hard working bands in the scene, they suffered line up loss when their singer Jorge decided to quit the band. Enter the new vocalist David Rodriguez and this is the first record with brand new material and new vocalist. The record contains 15 songs of energetic hardcore punk/streetpunk with harsh vocals, fast paced songs and gang singalong anthemic choruses. The fans of the band will get what they are used to, because the material is similar to the old stuff, only the singer is more understandable what is he singing about, because he sings harsh, but you can hear the words in the vocal lines. There are couple of songs on the record that are excellent like Lost, Ashes Of My Enemies and Written In Blood. Also, check out the new video for 1312, the song is okay, but there are couple of way better songs on the album. Good one.

(record review)The Rumjacks-Saints Preserve Us!

The Rumjacks recently released their new, fourth album and I listened and reviewed the album for our zine. Read on!

2018 - Saints Preserve Us!

I didn´t know for this band until 2016.and their show at Punk Rock Holiday, which made me listen to the albums and keep an eye and ear open for this band. Usually, I am not too keen for all the celtic punk and folk punk bands out there, but this album is just somehow made for my ears. These Australians  deliver mighty set with 12 songs of celtic folk punkrock with a lot of melody, sing along choruses, fun and emotion. There are reggae and ska influences in Fare Evader, the title track and A Dozen Good Reasons To Weep which is one of my favorite songs on this record. Also, I love The Foreman O´Rourke with the guest performance by Paul McKenzie of The Real McKenzies delivering nice vocal guest lines. This is a very good album which even non celtic folk punkrock fans like me dig good.

(news)NJ Pop-Punk Band Idle Wave Releasing Self-Titled EP on December 1st; Band Releases New Song “You Caught Me”

IMG_6966

Asbuy Park, NJ pop-punks Idle Wave will release their self-titled EP on December 1st.

Check out the new single “You Caught Me” here: https://youtu.be/NxG_hTtH4Xo. The track was mastered by Scott Hull (Nirvana, Childish Gambino).

Developing their sound in basement shows and the Asbury Park music scene, Idle Wave combines the anthemic garage rock sound of Weezer with the hard-truth lyricism of The Wonder Years. Post grad but not dead yet

Departing from their college project Flammable Animals the boys shifted their sound from what was normally basement recordings to bigger live rooms and louder amps through the help of John Ferrara (Trophy Scars) at Portrait Recording Studios.

Not ones to shy away from touchy subjects, “You Caught Me” puts pressure on the conversation regarding guilt and false accusations, while the EP also hones in on depression and the idea of things being out of your control, but not beyond repair.

Idle Wave takes you to a place of 00’s pop-punk nostalgia while holding up a mirror of self doubt, making for a nostalgic but unmistakably current relatability. Post grad but not dead yet.
