Serbia has excellent underground punk hardcore scene and Ukratko Štef(eng.Briefly Steve) is one of the bands that recently released their new studio record. I listened to it and reviewed it for this webzine.
This band plays an energetic hardcore punk with much streetpunk influences in the song structures and also some ska parts. The songs are mainly fast paced and just made for pogo and slamming at the live gigs. The record contains 14 songs two of them being Bouncing Souls and Specials/Snuff covers. All of the lyrics are in Serbian language and they cover the usual themes that such bands cover being love disappointments, friendship and the loss of friendship, some politics anti imperialist and anti multinationals themes and similar. I love the choruses and the atmosphere this band provides in the songs. The songs are real street hardcore punk anthems and I am just a sucker for such songs and just love the bands that play such music. I would love to see this band play live because I am sure that this material sounds even better and more awesome live. Top songs for me are Moj Grad(eng. My City) and Sećanje(eng.Rememberance).
Get Married is a six piece band from San Jose, California and they just released their new record via Asian Man Records and Wiretap Records. I listened to the record and reviewed it for our webzine.
This record contains 12 songs and the music Get Married play can not be qualified into one word. Basically, it is pop punkrock with a lot of melody and emotions in the songs. But, this band is not afraid to throw in their influences and mix them into hit songs that somehow find the way from your ear to your heart. There are doowop 50-ies influences in Cinnamon Sugar for which the guys made a video you can watch below. This song is for me absolutely one of the album highlights. Other song that I love very much is Music Box, a song with such a beautiful melody and vibe. Another great doo wop miniature is Coffee 2 which is short but sweet. Living Room is the song just made for feel good on a sunny morning as I listen to this record and am writing this review. This band is original, fresh, have great songs and are worth your attention, so go get this one and listen and tell me how you liked it.
Atlanta rock n’ roll/punk outfit Aree and the Pure Heart has released a new song titled Gasoline Heart.
Aree tells Rock Cellar Magazine, “Gasoline Heart deals with the life changing experience of having my daughter undergo open heart surgery at 4 months old. Her birth awakened in me a sensation of life that just begged for more. The grief and heartbreak of dealing with her health, coupled with her vibrant recovery has inspired me every day of my life. The song reflects these feelings of suffering through the worst and emerging boldly to bleed life dry for every bit of goodness it has to offer.”
Gasoline Heart will appear on the band’s upcoming debut full-length, which will be released via Wiretap Records.
Aree’s debut EP “Heartstrings” was released in September 2015 and has garnered plenty of attention, leading to a recent opening slot for Descendents.
