(record review)GET SOME-“Freaky, Filthy, Frustrated”(WTF Records)

Time for some hardcore to grace the pages of this zine. Get Some from Holland released their ep through the excellent label WTF Records, so it was time for me to listen and review their record for this webzine.

GTSM - CD FREAKYFILTHYFRUSTRATED HR

The record contains 5 songs of energetic, angst and anger filled hardcore from the streets. The music of Get Some is not unline all those older New York Hardcore bands like Cro-Mags or maybe later Agnostic Front and early Madball. The songs are done in the usual hardcore way, being faster paced but with some moshy parts thrown in for the good measure. Lyrically, they deal with personal stuff, suicide prevention, posers acting in the scene and social acceptance. For me the best song on this record are “Yourself” and the title song. This is an awesome record for all those of you who like your hardcore hard, streetsmart, angry and full of hardcore force.

(record review)DOWN BY LAW-“All In”(Kung Fu Records)

Legendary punk band Down By Law just released their brand new album through Cleopatra Records and I listened and reviewed this album for this webzine.

cover

Led by the punk legend Dave Smalley(All, Dag Nasty), this band released their 11th album first since 2012. The record contains 12 songs of melodic punk. Who listened to their earlier albums will know what to expect. This means, mid tempo punkrock with lots of melody and heart and soul. I never dug this band a lot, this album is not different. I am sorry, but this music is just too similar and too boring for my taste. I love “Boredom”, “Mannequin” and couple of other songs but in the long run it all just doesn`t work for me and this music does not manage to reach my heart. It is a good album, but just did not work out for me.

(record review)Bleach Party, USA-Nose Beers and Road Soda

Bleach Party, USA are having a bit unusual name but believe me, when you listen to their music you will love them. I listened and reviewed their new release for this webzine.

According to their page, the guys play surf punk and they are somewhere from Arizona area. This release is a single serving as an announcement to the upcoming full length record. There are three songs on this single. I would describe the music as angry and a bit raw punkrock with a lot of melody underneath it all in the song structures. Nose Beers is a classic punkrock song that reminds me a bit of early 80-ies punk bands like Black Flag and early Adolescents and Verbal Abuse. Voices is also straightforward in your face, no holds barred punkrock song. The demo version of Turbulent Juice somehow invokes all the rawness and punk energy of this band. I love this stuff. I can´t wait for the full length record. Go get this single and write a line or two to the guys from the band I know they will appreciate the support.
