(review) Coma Regalia-Vau Faelgoh(Zegema Beach Records)

Coma Regalia is a nice screamo hardcore band from Lafayette, Indiana. On this record you can find 11 songs of nice screamo/hardcore punk from minds of Shawn Decker. They are known for Middle Man Records and playing in couple of bands like Never Better, Metastatic, The Longer We Stray From The Light, Plaguewalker, Hex Lariat, etc.

This material is pretty chaotic, darkened, yet it has every bit of sense when you listen carefully the record as a whole. The songs have that haunting melody underneath all the chaos and screams like for example my favorite Kistleden or Shulederhau. This is pure battle with inner demons and cathartic dramatic climax lived through music and in the end, when you look behind you, all the fears are gone, there is only none other than you back there! This is not the music for everyone, but those who get it and have feelings will love it!

(review) School Drugs-Modern Medicine(Indecision Records)

School Drugs are about to release their new album on Indecision Records and I listened and reviewed it for our zine.

These guys are from New Jersey and are playing hardcore in an original and inspiring way. That means 10 songs of nice mixture of early 80-ies hardcore punk like in title track or Gimme Doubt and the fast forward hardcore punk miniature Pathetic Desperate. But, there is another side to this record and that is chaotic nervous noisy hardcore not dissimilar to 90-ies hardcore heroes such as Snapcase or 108, but these guys are returning to that style making it fresh and new for the new millenia and sounding energetic, screamy, inspiring and proud to call yourself hardcore kid still after all these years. I also love the almost Cro Mags meets Black Flag style of Wash Away and chaotic sound and piano ending Joyless. Great record!

(news) FOR THE WIN Return With First Song In Over 2 Years

FOR THE WIN is swinging back with “As Forever,” the first taste of new music from the San Diego outfit since their 2017 release Heavy Thoughts. “We are thrilled to get this new song out to our fans, and to thank them for their constant words of encouragement over the years,” exclaims FOR THE WIN’s vocalist Kyle Christensen. Known for their addictive heaviness, powerful pop and fist-in-the-air singalongs, “As Forever” anchors an emotion that every person can relate to.

Listen To “As Forever” Now.

“There is an interesting side to how this song came about,” admits Christensen. “It started as an unfinished demo back in 2016, just as we finished recording our album Heavy Thoughts. Even through that record was done, the writing did not stop. The first half of ‘As Forever’ lyrically shows how I was feeling and where I was in life – struggling with certain situations and battling to understand why some things played out the way they did. Since I started piecing that song together, I spent the last three years doing a lot of self-discovering so this song reads with the first half showing who I was in 2016.” Fast forward to present day, the charismatic frontman adds, “After revisiting ‘As Forever’ in 2019, it made sense that this song could pick up where FOR THE WIN left off in 2016. When you push through the hard times and come out on the other side wiser and stronger, those moments shape who you are.”
