(record review)CASUAL NAUSEA-Demons(TNSrecords)

Casual Nausea are hardcore punk band from Ipswich, UK and this is their debut full length out with TNSrecords. I listened and reviewed the record for our zine.

cover

They are describe as Gogol Bordello meets The Restarts, but after listening to the album I would say that this is not entirely true. Although there are some folky punk fun stuff in their song structures, these guys mainly rely on good old hardcore punk, a bit on the rawer side, yet enough melodic to put that catchy melody bug in your ear when listening. The record contains 19 songs, which is a great number of songs, but the record just does not get boring in any way and passes along and leaves you wanting more after it is over. There are some faster hardcore songs made for stage diving and waving your finger and fist in the air, but there are some punkrock midtempo songs and also Crass inspired music. The lyrics are personal, also about the survival in this life, scene, diy and punk. This is a great record and I would just love to see this band play live, because I am sure they are just tons of fun live. Recommended songs: Fuck Up, Demons, Pay Your Sins Away, Til The Day I Die.

(record review)THE LUCITONES-Three Moons(Batcave Records)

Batcave Records continues its triumphant crusade by giving us awesome psychobilly releases, this time I listened and reviewed for our zine the new record by The Lucitones.

cover

Formed in 2015.in Montana, these guys play catchy, contagious like the zombie outbreak, melodic punkrock psychobilly. This new record contains 12 songs. If I must compare the music to some bands, then it would be like a mixture of Koffin Kats, The Rocketz and Stellar Corpses. After the instrumental Bulletproof, the album provides killer tunes like Her Crypt In The Woods or The Temptress, with beautiful haunting melodies in the song verses, great vocals made for singing along, then the anthemic choruses join in, which just make you wanna listen to the record more and more. Most of the songs on this record make me wish that I have wrote them, how good they are. The title track reminds me with its vibe of some old school Hammer horror movie. To sum up the impressions, I love this record, it is awesome!

(news-hardcore) Next Time Mr. Fox: The Debut Album “Sunken City” Out On April 26th!

ac565067-6291-4d7c-9cf9-3aa8f13bb347

Italian hardcore-metal act NEXT TIME MR. FOX has announced the release of their debut album “Sunken City”, who will be available in digital and physical version on April 26th. Recorded/mixed at Wavemotion Recording Studio and with two guest appearance, the new album is an impressive step ahead for the quintet, as explained by them: “‘Sunken City’ is an experiment by Next Time Mr. Fox band releasing this first album. In these 12 tracks we can find a lot of metal music influences: from metalcore – the pure band genre – to southern metal, guitars rhythms plays stolen from djent, hardcore open chords verses, evil thrash metal riffs who leave room to melodic sounds, deadly deathcore breakdowns alternate with slow beatdown/downtempo breakdowns. Screams and growls always dominate the tracks, nevertheless the band shows versatility also on the singing point of view, including melodic vocals, with the presence of Gabriele Catoni from Let Them Fall (clean vocals) and Mattia Maffioli from Drown In Sulpuhr (screams and growls) on two songs. Intriguing to note the ending of different tracks who report similar sounds, those sounds are some of the “unexplained sounds” detected by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), used as enrichment to the meaning of the album. Breaks, stop’n’go, despair times and always a catchy taste are the keys who Next Time Mr. Fox used to link the old and the new school of metal music, with big basic ethics”.
