(review) Midwich Cuckoos – Going Nowhere:Lockdown Sessions (Onslaught Music)

Midwich Cuckoos started as a fun project between international bunch of friends evolving into real band with real full line-up. This one was recorded during lockdown due to reasons unfortunately known to us all as an e.p. to serve as a release before new full length arrives. There are five songs on this e.p. As the title say, three acoustic songs, one dance remix and one reggae version hehe. You will have to listen and discover your favorite for yourself. I was not a fan of acoustic music when I was an angry metal and hardcore kid growing up, now I learned to appreciate the beauty of punk rock played acoustically. Listen to my personal favorite Call The Nurse with that melancholic and haunting melody and fantastic voice of singer Tanzy Velayne instantly becoming one of my favorite voices in the punk rock scene. Also Dirty Love in that reggae version is superb and my highlight on this e.p. So, go listen and discover your favorte song on this one. I love it.

Finnish Nobody released Bathory single from the upcoming second album!

Promo pic by: Aleksi Ruokanen

Finnish Nobody released a new single Bathory. The track is taken from the upcoming second album Eternal Infernal which is set to be released on May 21st 2021 via Inverse Records. The new album takes the band’s music to a new territory, including elements of world music as well as traditional instruments. While black metal influences are not so overtly heard, the album retains a dark undertow as it travels through time from ancient Rome to the present day.

Tuomas Kauppinen comments:
“In the depths of a Romanian castle lies its former queen Elizabeth Bathory. She is forever trapped inside four tightly sealed walls. Her quest for eternal youth sealed her destiny. Bathing in the blood of hundreds of young girls under the belief that this would give her what she wanted, she invoked the fury of a great mage. The horror she inflicted gave the mage power to confront her and inspire others to stand up to her. To this day her cries can be heard in the castle but no one knows where exactly she is buried.”  Listen to Bathory single on:
