IDEM is a solo project of Antun Aleksa, good spirit of Croatian underground scene who also plays in Trophy Jump, Porto Morto and Jeboton among others. This is a collection that IDEM grew for couple of years now and mixture of escaping and coming full circle. This is in fact collection of ten songs mixing post punk and pop punk sensibilities with beautiful and at times haunting melodies. Lyrics are in Croatian language and speak of fun, love, feelings, growing up in an loving environment, lust for life and also being thankful for happiness and small moments that make life worth living and continue soldiering on. Some of the songs are similar and remind a bit of Trophy Jump, but different and original at the same time. I can’t help myself but this album brings somehow joy into my heart and makes me warm around heart while listening and enjoying this music. Songs like ‘Uvijek Super’, ‘Žujice’, ‘Nikad Sama’ or ‘Potopi Ovaj Brod’ sure to win you over. So, I recommend this album to listen as a whole, at the same time reading lyrics and get into the vibe that it brings. I know it brought lots of joy to me. Hope it will bring it to you too! The album is at name your price on Bandcamp, but if you download it for free, drop a word or two to Antun, I know him and I am sure he will appreciate it a lot.

(review) Leo Donat – ‘Acoustic EP’
Leo Donat je inače poznatiji kao gitarist/vokal melodic hardcore punk benda Me As Well iz Karlovca, a sada je izdao svoj solo acoustic EP. Na ovome malom čarobnom izdanju nalaze se pet pjesama, četiri na engleskom i jedna na hrvatskom jeziku. Ne znam kako će vas, no mene je ovo izdanje jako podsjetilo na akustične albume nikada prežaljenog pokojnog Tony Slya iz No Use For A Name, dakle emocionalni melodični akustični punk rock prve klase, od nekih stvari mi se naprosto naježila koža koliko su dobre, glazbeno i tekstualno, kao na primjer odlična ‘Long Time Coming’ koju sam vrtio ponovo i ponovo, kao i genijalne ‘Dear Friend’, te ‘Nisam Tu’. Ove pjesme mogu zamisliti i u Me As Well verzijama s dualnim Leovim i Majinim vokalima i ziher sam da i u toj inačici bi zvučale fenomenalno, ali ovako je odlično. Atmosfera, melodija, emocija. Zakon malo DIY izdanje, na ‘Name Your Price’ je, ali ako već skidate pošaljite rečenicu ili dvije Leu da vam se sviđa, siguran sam da će to cijeniti.
(review) New Found Glory – ‘Make The Most Of It’ (Revelation Records)
Melodic/pop punk legends New Found Glory released new acoustic album with Revelation Records. These legends made some milestone albums, covered soundtrack songs in punk versions, and now it is time for most personal acoustic album which contains 7 new songs and 7 renditions of old classics. I will concentrate on new songs here because I think this is the most personal work to date, due to serious illness of one of the band members. These songs are full of hope, full of wishing to get healthy again, yet remaining in mind that battle might be lost. Songs like ‘Get Me Home’ and especially ‘Watch The Lilies Grow’ brought goosebumps and tears to my eyes, because I am currently also ill and sometimes see no way out if and it eats me down and there are better days, but also bad days too. But, never lose hope and never lose the will to fight and love like ‘Kiss The Floor’ says. This album is full of love, hope, most heartfelt personal emotions and lyrics, so I love every single minute of it.
