(review) F.O.D.-Sleepville

cover

F.O.D. from Belgium has a large fanbase in Europe and also the world, making them one of the jewels in the crown of European melodic punk scene. This new record contains 14 songs and what is more better, this is a concept album. The story revolves around two characters, an elderly woman called Annie who, together with Harrison, reflects on the past and tries to put the pieces of the puzzle that is her life back together. The story works out just fine through the song structured with fast more skatepunk songs but also more calmer mid tempo punkrock bordering with pop punk in some parts of the songs. Hans˙ vocals are better than ever with very harmonic backing vocals fitting perfectly to the songs. It reminds me a lot of best No Use For A Name opus. For me, the songs that I somehow love the most on this record are Fall In Line, Annie, Changes Rise. But, this is the album you should listen to as a whole, not song by song to understand it better. The anguish, the pain, the sweetness, the beauty of skatepunk and melodic punkrock.

(review) Den!ed-The Darkest Timeline

cover

European punk scene flourishes day by day with so many great bands releasing great records! This time, Den!ed from Belgium released one helluva record. Hailing from Bruxelles, I must admit that I haven˙t heard for them until this one. Here we get 5 songs of excellent melodic punk, filled with energy and above all, melodies that are so great they made my skin crawl with delight. Black Sails and Circle Of Lies are my personal favorites on this e.p. but all of the songs are just absolutely fantastic. It is fast, it is melodic, it is anthemic and just made for listening again and again, and repeat it again. The record stops just in time to make you want more, to make you want full length as soon as possible. Great one!

Belgian melodic punk rock outfit F.O.D. is releasing its widely anticipated fourth full album “Sleepville” on 20 March 2020.

Sleepville is a story telling album that takes its listener on a journey through time. In their announcement the band writes that they will be ignoring the boundaries of punk rock for this release. If that does not spark your imagination, I don’t know what will…

The album will be out on CD and on 12” colored vinyl (4 exclusive colors) and released through Bearded Punk Records (BE) for Europe, Wiretap Records (US) for the US and Thousand Islands Records (CAN) for Canada.

Each record will come with an actual book that has its own artwork, which contains the story of the quiet town of Sleepville and its inhabitants. For the last year it’s been quiet around the Belgian foursome, but now they’re coming back with a huge bang. To start it all off, they are planning a release party for the album on March 20 at Cinema Plaza in Lier, Belgium, together with 4 supporting acts. Keep your eyes peeled for more news about this very special release.

The band released it’s first single called ‘Thirtysomething and Counting‘ which you can watch below!
