Zrcadlo, already violinist in Trewa, Celtic Harp Orchestra and Furor Gallico (session live from 2015 to 2017) as Filippo Pedretti, is the new violinist of Hanormale

The band that plays an amazing, personal, avant-garde blackmetal has found in Zrcadlo that bit of folk that was missing from the project, inserting the skills of the violinist in a psychedelic and experimental context.

The band’s innovative compositional method has allowed maximum artistic expression to the new member contextualizing his personal background and his soul in an impeccable way.

The result will soon be heard on the third album of the band, coming out for Dusktone.

I found in Zrcadlo that folk musicality that still lacks the record, we worked in great harmony and we managed to arrange and record all its parts in a few days.With the new members of the band Mox Cristadoro, Deimos, Dirac Sea, Aldous, Luca Rampini and the old members of the band Marco Zambruni, Ste Naked, G/Ab ed Emiliano Bazzoni we are creating a very emotional black metal music and we can not wait to finish the recordings to consecrate this third album.

(album review)Antiquus Scriptum-“Antologia”(This Winter Will Last Forever)

Antiquus Scriptum were founded in 1998. and these Portuguese black/pagan metal band released this compilation album through This Winter Will Last Forever and it was about time to review it for this zine.

They play very fast, very noisy and brutal black metal mixed with pagan, folk and thrash metal influences. I must admit that I have never heard of this band prior to this album and I like their brutal but also disturbed vision of metal. This is no holds barred war with no prisoners. The keyboard parts somehow add to the dark and merciless darkness of the material and I am afraid that all of you who like your black metal symphonic and melodic will not find comfort in this disonant and eerie soundtrack to the apocalypse. This album contains 8 anthems to past times, darkness, antireligion and death. I loved this record because it rose darkness in me that lingers somewhere deep like a beast in deep slumber, but never ceases to exist through the strange aeons!

(record review)BEDNJA-“Doline su ostale iza nas”

Finally! The debut album by Bednja is out! I wrote couple of months ago about them in action doing an awesome live set, now it is time to review their debut studio effort!

Some portals and magazines call the music of this band a mixture of hardcore and black metal or post black metal, but to me this band is black metal with capital B. The trio from Varazdin, Croatia area has a great amount of experience playing for years in various bands in this northern underground scene. I think that experience enriched them as musicians and this band is an amalgamation of their group experience and the end product is just awesome. Through it all Bednja kept their unique original style.

The album contains a sort of intro and five excellent songs of sorrow, hope, anguish, darkness and the struggle with the inner demons combined in melody, aggression, catchy guitar hooks and memorable calmer but somehow eerie atmospheric parts. The vocals are dual, one being harsh and raw, the other more screeching black metal voice. What makes me love this band even more are their great lyrics and also all of them are in Croatian language which is rare nowadays with the bands playing similar music. All of the songs are excellent, but if I must choose I will say “Ledena palača”(eng,Ice Palace) is my favourite song. This is for sure an album of the month.
