Calgary’s The Moröns have released a music video for their cover of ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ (originally recorded by Whitney Houston but made popular by The Moröns). The track appears on 2022’s ‘Book of Morön’ that was released via High End Denim Records.
The video was made for millions of dollars in Hollywood but some friends in the scene helped out too!
The Moröns will also be opening for the Mad Caddies at Dickens Pub in Calgary on February 23 so Alberta folks should come and sing along!
Calgary party punks The Morön’s and recently recorded and released a cover of the classic Enya tune “Orinoco Flow”.
When we asked frontman Robbie why they chose to cover that particular song he replied, ” I thought it would be funny to cover Enya and I’d never heard anyone else attempt it so I gave it the old college try and it’s turned out to be one of our “fan faves” at shows. We usually play it last though so they could just be cheering cause we’re done…”
This band was already featured on the pages of our zine when we reviewed their record. The band worked hard, played their gigs and here is the new e.p. These trio from Calgary, Alberta, Canada play horrorpunk with a lot psychobilly influences and they have upright bass. They remind me a lot of Koffin Kats with very fast, energetic and anthemic horrorpunk blasting from the speakers while listening to the record. There are 5 songs on this record and I am happy to hear how this band progressed with time playing tighter, more catchy and super songs with a lot of oooos and aaas and cool lyrics just made for singing along. Off this record my personal favorites are War Of The Monsters and Satanic Mastermind. Fine record indeed. Halloween is close, but do not listen horrorpunk only on Halloween, do it every day!
