(record review)AUDIO KARATE-e.p.(Wiretap Records)

The first Audio Karate new music in 14 years is out now via Wiretap Records! I listened to this new e.p. and reviewed it for this zine.

cover

The record contains two songs from a “lost” recording session that they did after the release of 2004’s Lady Melody. Now, while they are appearing playing live on tour with Descendants in the USA, these beloved SoCali punkrockers treated us with this record.

Bounce is an uptempo emotional punkrock song that takes us back as a kind of time machine to the time that band recorded it, but the melody, riffs and the excellent vocal lines are equally important today and I can safely say that this song survived the test of time and it is just awesome. The second song called Landing is a bit slower, more of alternative/ indie ballad styled punkrock ballad, listening to this song takes me back on the warm sea shore on a warm night under starred sky. This is a great e.p. Go get your copy!

(record review)SUICIDAL TENDENCIES-STill Cyco Punk After All These Years(Suicidal Records)

The legendary Suicidal Tendencies have a new, 13-th studio record out and I listened and reviewed it for our zine.

Well, in fact it is not really a brand new record musicwise, but a rerecording of the singer˙s Mike Muir solo album from 1996.called Lost My Brain(Once Again), minus two songs. The album contains 11 songs of a crazy mixture between punkrock and hardcore with crossover with Muir˙s trademark unmistakable voice on top of the songs and the guy sounds better than ever like he hasn˙t aged a minute through all these years. My favorite songs on this record are F.U.B.A.R., Lost My Brain and All I Ever Get. The album title is a game of words regarding the old album Still Cyco After All These Years which contained legendary tracks from the first and second album re-recorded. The cover reminds a bit of The Exploited logo and album covers, hehe. Mike Muir gathered an excellent musician crew  in the current incarnation of the band with legendary ex Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo and long time Infectious Grooves member Dean Pleasents, so the band is very tight and the energy just flows from my speakers while listening to this record. Good one.

(record review)The Adolescents-“Cropduster”(Concrete Jungle Records)

As the years progress and pass us by, we are definitely not getting any younger. The time goes by, and some people that were our inspiration, our role models, the people whose music grabbed us by the balls and put us upon the scene, start to die. Steve Soto of The Adolescents and Agent Orange passed away recently. It is a great and sad loss for the punk hardcore community. But, Steve´s legacy lives on through his music and this is the new The Adolescents record out on Concrete Jungle Records that I listened and reviewed for this webzine.

cover

The new record contains 18 new songs of punkrock hardcore just like we are used to by these legendary band from California. The music of The Adolescents on this record is somehow the mirror image of their feelings towards the American politics and Trump spiced with angry punkrock underlayed with wonderful melodies beneath the punk ferocity. Also, there is a lot of emotional input in this record and it can be felt in the lyrics and music and throughout the vibe on this record that sometimes awakes a kind of punkrock nostalgia in me for example while listening to “Paradigm Bag Junkies” or “Alice on Wonderland”. I also love “Room 223” and the title track. This is an energetic and also emotional record, and for sure one of the best punk hardcore releases this year so far.
