About 6 years after the official release of their debut full-length effort ‘Doomwalk’, French crust/hardcore/grindFERAL unveiled a first glance from their sophomore album with the official music video of the song “The Great Reset” available right now on YouTube.
French hardcore/crust/grinders FERAL – including members of MORGUE, STUNTMAN or Superstatic Revolution) – are proud to join the ever-growing roster of Source Atone Records (JUNON, Korsakov, Membrane…) for the release of their second album entitled ‘Spiritual void’. The album will contain 12 tracks and around half an hour of ferocious grooves, blasts, and screaming growls and will be also distributed on all digital platforms through Season Of Mist.
There was no crust hardcore punk on the pages of this zine for a while now. Detësto are hailing from Brazil and are playing just that.
These five songs are released on Bandcamp but, there are plans to release them on seven inch and also on tape this year. So, what to expect? Dirty and raw crust d-beat hardcore punk, done in an old school way, powerful and with conviction. The song structures are simple, containing all the right stuff this genre has to offer, yet still remaining good listening. I usually become bored when crust hardcore punk albums last too long, because all the songs start to be similar to each other but these five are just the right listening for pumping your fist in the air and delivering apocalypse of war, nuclear devastation, atomic radiation, death an all other merry themes of the lyrics. If you are a fan of such music, go listen to this one, you will not be sorry.
Time for a wicked attack from Brazil, namely Escalpo. These guys are relatively new band being formed recently playing metal punk, with hardcore crust punk influences thrown in the song structures for good measure. This release contains three songs and I think they are in Portuguese or Spanish, I am really sorry if I am mistaken and I offended someone. But, let the music speak for itself. Onda de Estupidez is a crusty hardcore punk anthem with ending belonging more in thrash metal like waters and apocalyptic thundering drums and wicked guitar work, coupled with harsh vocals. My personal favorite of these three songs is Olhando pro Chao being thrash metal d-beat hardcore punk jewel on this record and I would love to hear these guys destroying live because I am sure their music kills while on stage. The title track is starting more Discharge style yet remaining metal with double bass work, wicked vocal work and razors edge guitars. This is a great release, can´t wait for more material.
