(review) NONTHEWISER – ‘NONTHEWISER’

The day has arrived and Swedish punks NONTHEWISER who were already featured on the pages of this webzine released new record. As you might know, Sweden has, besides all those metal bands who are great, also awesome punk hardcore scene with Misconduct, No Fun At All, Satanic Surfers, Astream, 59 Times The Pain, Intensity, Atlas Losing Grip immediately coming to mind. Well, NONTHEWISER are from Gothenburg, birthplace of melodic Swedish death metal, but on this album there are 15 songs of melodic punk hardcore and I must admit this is the one of the finest record I have listened this year so far. Besides playing old school nineties influenced melodic punk/skate punk, NONTHEWISER let us hear in their song structures they are from Sweden with THAT sound of guitar in some songs, like fast Iron Maiden like tuned guitars not unsimilar to Gothenburg’s metal bands, like in awesome fast ‘Perplexed’ or ‘Hang us high’. Vocals at times remind me a bit of Koca from Croatian Fat Prezident and I love that kind of voice, emotional yet at times angry and screaming, shouting. Melody lines are perfect, both vocal and guitar main melodies and hooks. Though I am a fan of more faster songs if possible on the album I listen to, there are also some superb mid tempo punk rock anthems on this one, hitters like ‘Grind down hope’ or ‘The good of man’ having that sweet, sweet melody. This is a lesson in melodic punk.

(review) Left Hand Black-ST

albumcover

Long time no horrorpunk band graced the pages and crypts of Kraykulla webzine. Risen from the ashes of mighty The Dead Next Door, Gothenburg´s Left Hand Black release their debut album. The album contains 13 songs of old school melodic horrorpunk, reminding me of Blitzkid and The Other combining nod to the old school masters of the genre, yet remaining modern and fresh sounding. The vocals are nice, deep and melodic, not trying to sound like Danzig clone, but staying original. The songs are superb, delivering almost Ramones like simple energy, with lots of ooohs and aahs singalong parts and being wet dream for all of us horrorpunk fiends. The songs that are somehow my favorites are Let`s Scare Jessica To Death(have you seen the movie by the way? It is fantastic!), Behind The Green Door, Walking Dead. Fantastic horrorpunk from north!

(record review)MY OWN CO-PILOT-Textures

My Own Co-Pilot is a band started in 2017.by Michal Kosinski from Gothenburg, Sweden, with an idea to bring back the spirit of emotions filled hardcore back to the newer generations. I listened and reviewed  the record for our zine.

This record contains 4 songs. The music was recorded in Sweden and the vocals were done in USA, so you can say this is a Trans-Atlantic project. The music is hardcore, maybe the way it was done in late 90-ies or early 2000´s meaning rolling riffs, melodic and memorable guitar hooks and awesome screamed vocals. That makes an interesting whole with historical, but also modern value to the generations of newer kids who might never heard this side of hardcore. The lyrics are personal and for me somehow the song which touched me the most is This Crying, but the whole e.p. is one intense and memorable experience for the listener. This is a very strong record and I will remember it in the months to come while I wait eagerly for the full length-
