We’re excited to welcome Beng Beng Cocktail to the TNSrecords family. Their new self-titled album is now available to order from our website on vinyl and CD – https://bit.ly/BengBengCocktail
Beng Beng Cocktail’s ‘Choices’ was one of those albums we just listened to over and over again. It’s an absolute classic. Imagine Rodrigo y Gabriela in some sort of bar fight with Rancid and add some Hip Hop-esque vocals and you won’t be far off the mark. Brilliant stuff! Beng Beng Cocktail label themselves as Crystalcore. They “take into consideration both DIY and ‘We do what we like and we like what we do’ concepts”.
The band say “crystalcore breaks out through uncontaminated beat, genuine ska tones and straightforward acoustic radiance out coming from insistent hardcore voices shaped by the daily nightmare of human kind.” When the opportunity came along to release their new album, we jumped at the chance. Now featuring a drummer and a faster and more aggressive delivery, this is another absolute belter that you need in your life.
South California is not only the place where great skate punk and melodic punk bands grow, it is also a place where harsher hardcore side of things rears its ugly head in form of Abrasion. They released new e.p. which contains an intro plus four songs. Abrasion lean more heavily onto metal hardcore side of things, yet they retain great deal of old school parts in between mosh and thrash metal influences. Vocals are angry and screaming and lyrics deal with loyalty, death, life, surviving…I love the song called Deaths Embrace being my personal favorite on this record, fast and energetic angry bomb of a song. Check this one out!
Devil In Me worked their asses off to become one of the flagships of European hardcore punk scene and boy, does this new album sound great. I discovered European hardcore back in the mid nineties through controversial Lost & Found releases and bands like Ryker´s, Brightside, Right Direction, Discipline and so on were so sweet and great to me as a kid back then. They still are of course. Devil In Me are from Lisabon and this opus contains eleven songs done just in the way I like it, More street punk oriented Euro hardcore with roots firm in punk rock, yet with some moshing metallic parts here and there, also NYHC influences are unavoidable with some song structures. Vocals are awesome, bordering from angry screaming, hardcore shouter to some more melodic vocals like in fantastic Awake. In Loving Memory and Never Give In are also my personal favorites on this record, so when you read titles like these you will get the picture what these songs and this band is about. Gang backing vocals are just made for singing along while moshing and stagediving at gigs, I can only imagine how this band sounds live, hopefully I will see them and hear them play live one day soon. Until then, this is probably a candidate for top five hardcore releases this year which just started. Great one indeed!
