(record review)The Bastards-“Return To The Earth”(Ukulele Horror Records)

Are you ready for some acoustic horrorpunk? The acoustic in this genre gives a special atmosphere to the songs and bands, and though I am not a great fan of acoustic punk, horrorpunk sounds great when it is done acoustic. The Bastards are hailing from USA and this is their new e.p., so I am happy being able to discover this band and review their record.

This band is made of two members, being Jimmy Moon on guitar and backing vocals and D.C.Disaster, lead vocals. This record contains four songs of acoustic horrorpunk. The songs on this record are apparently the band´s favorite songs from their 2016 “Being Human” record done with a slight different arrangement and re-recorded for this release. Now, I haven´t heard the original versions of the songs, but I loved the songs on this record. My favorite song is “Earth Invaders” having a classic horrorpunk vibe and reminding me vocally a lot of Trevor from American Werewolves. Also “Necromantic” is an excellent song having a weird but beautiful doo wop vibe. The rest of the songs are also fine, melodic and atmospheric, ideal for chilling in the warm Summer darkness and planning youe next mischief while enjoying  the songs of The Bastards. If you love horrorpunk and if you love it done acoustic, then this is the right record for you to enjoy, dear fiendettes and fiends!

(record review)THE SADISTS-“Sexploitation”

The Sadists are horrorpunk band from Hartford, Connecticut, USA and this is their new record that I listened to and reviewed for this webzine.

Everyone who reads this webzine knows our love for horrorpunk and horror culture in general. I am always happy to discover new and great horrorpunk bands in that small, but beautiful scene. This music just keeps me alive somehow, besides punk and hardcore of course! This record contains 11 songs with two being covers by Dwarves and Cancerslug, one being bonus Christmas horrorpunk anthem. The music this guys play is more of a raw horrorpunk with screaming vocals that often turn into nice melodic anthemic melodies. Somehow they remind of the two before mentioned bands but with retaining a great dose of originality. The song “Bride of the Monster” features the guest vocals by none other than Michale Graves and it is in my opinion the best song on this record, not necessary because of the Graves vocals which I adore, but because it is an awesome song. I also love “Black Christmas”, “Wish I Was Dead” and the bonus song is awesome “Merry Fucking Christmas” although is is the beginning of Summer. Nice horrorpunk album full of energy!
