Irski folk metal razbijači Cruachan su se vratili s novim albumom. Riječ je o devetom studijskom full length albumu, prvom u zadnjih pet godina. Na ovom opusu se nalazi dvanaest pjesama od kojih su neke instrumentali. Od daleke 1993.kada je ovaj bend krenuo, u postavi je ostao samo mastermind Keith Fay, vokal koji usput svira gitaru, mandolinu, bouzouki, banjo kao i vješto izmjenjuje harsh, ali melodične vokale s black metal screamovima i prelijepim čistim clean vokalima. Uz miks black metala i irskog folka, na ovom albumu se nalazi i nekoliko sporijih skoro baladičnih folk metal pjesama kao što je odlična ‘The Harvest’, moj favorit uz ‘The Ghost’ i ‘The Crow’. Cijeli album sam si protumačio kao konceptualnu priču o jednom životnom prirodnom ciklusu. Audrey Trainor odlično obogaćuje pjesmom violinom, violom i cellom, ovisno kako u kojoj pjesmi i to bogatstvo zvuka čini ovaj album plemenitim folk metal izdanjem, jednim od najboljih folk metal bandova i albuma u zadnjih desetak godina, ako ne i više. Dobar vam povratak veterani Cruachan.
Bar Tape are from Dublin, Ireland and this is their new release. What do we have here? These guys play a mixture of Californian fast skate punk with nineties influences and emotional punk in the vein of The Menzingers or Off With Their Heads, with rougher vocals, I would even say this rough yet melodic voice adds more to the drama and intense of the songs themselves. Like I said there are some faster songs like One Way East or St. Peter’s College Drop-out for example, but the real jewels on this one are mid tempo emotional hitters like Hindsight 20:20 which is one of my favorite songs on this album. Also, Subscription Glasses is one of my highlights on this one. Like you probably guessed from the provided song titles lyrics are personal with a dose of humor and irony thrown in for good measure. Great album, I am happy having discovered this band.
