Norwegian black metal legends Mayhem are back with their brand new studio full length album. I will not go into all the past and folk tales of Euronymous, Dead, at least talk about that shitty piece of movie called Lords Of Chaos, laughable Hollywood crap.
The new album contains fresh Mayhem and it is good, dark, heavy, black metal and technical. I especially love the melody of The Dying False King and darkened wicked hook and atmosphere of Bad Blood which has haunting guitar solo so similar to legendary solo on Freezing Moon, but sheer brutality and merciless pummeling of Agenda Ignis is also total fantastic strike. Vocalist Attila sounds very convincing with his inhuman croak, whispers and screams, also spoken parts. The guitarists create superb atmospheric arrangements of sheer brutal soundscapes, along with thundering Necrobutcher´s bass, but for me the real hero is drummer Hellhammer, for me one of the best drummers in extreme music, human metronome. Malum is also one of my favorites with clean singing parts, being modern black metal anthem for new Mayhem millenium and this band still has so much to offer without only living in the past. You can return there and always be proud of the past, but the reality must lie in the future. Good album.
Wow! This is really a surprise! After all the painful years of battling through court and who is real, who is not, Harley Flanagan finally did it! Cro-Mags, one and only real Cro-Mags released the first new music since 2000. and signed deal with Victory Records.
The line-up is made Flanagan on lead vocals/bass, guitarists Gabby Abularach, Rocky George (Suicidal Tendencies, Fishbone), and drummer Garry “G-Man” Sullivan and the musicianship is very tight and the music is aggressive, energetic and memorable.
There are three songs on this record: the title track, Drag You Under and No One´s Victim. Harley sings better than ever and production is a bit gritty, but that sounds darker and more sinister when listening. In my opinion the title track is the best one on this record and kind of reminds me on We Gotta Know with the guitar riffs and drumming at the beginning of the song. Welcome back, Cro-Mags!
Bad Religion is back and what a return! Their new album is out now with Epitaph and I listened and reviewed it for our zine.
The long gap, long awaiting is over, new full length is here! There are 15 songs on this record and I just can´t believe how good the new album really is. Judging by the singles the band released prior to the record I knew we are in for something great, but now, as I listen to the album for the tenth time, I love every single for it. I can´t help the feeling that the new album is angry and more political lyrically than ever because those are the signs of the time. From the Chaos From Within and My Sanity which is one of my favorites on the record, those songs we heard prior to the release and the great title track, almost hardcore angry Faces of Grief and some slower songs, the album is amazing. The music is classic Bad Religion style, meaning melodic punk hardcore with smart and well thought lyrics. Also, one of my favorite songs on this album that I must mention is Candidate, slower punkrock song, but with superb partly sarcastic lyrics and beautiful melody. You wil catch yourselves humming to the songs on this album and just wanting more and more of this album. For sure, one of the best albums in 2019.so far!
