“Manchester Punk Festival is the musical highlight of my year. It lifts my spirits so much to see so many like minded people gathering to open their minds to new music and new friends. It gets better every year and i’m proud to be part of it.” Sam Russo

“MPF is a rare thing; a multi venue festival that manages to be independent, affordable and encompass every single conceivable sub genre of punk into a weekend long celebration of both the unifying spirit of punk rock and the amazing city of Manchester.” James Hull / Apologies, I Have None

“Being that it was a multi-venue festival in the city with a bar under a train track, I knew this would be amazing. I was not disappointed in the least.” Steve Rawles / Belvedere

“Simply the best, better than all the rest. Better than anyone, anyone I ever met.” Press Club

(review) Pizzatramp/Incisions-Do You Know Who You Look Like(TNSrecords)

cover

Pizzatramp were already featured on the pages of this zine. Their side features two fast thrash punk songs not unlike their record we reviewed here a while ago. If you like your hardcore punk fast, gritty and thrashy with funny lyrics haha this is the right band forya. Incisions I heard for the first time and they are from Manchester and play a bit more crusty version of hardcore punk with some classic UKHC influences, metal and also d-beat carnage. Their two songs are fantastic. This is a nice little release for all you fans of fast diy hardcore punk.

(review) Tio Rico-Shit Show Pony(Horn & Hoof Records)

shitshow

Tio Rico are from Manchester, UK and this is their debut record coming out with Horn & Hoof Records. Formed in 2014.Tio Rico released  3 singles and an e.p. This is their first full length album and it contains 11 songs. The music of Tio Rico can simply be categorized as punk. It is a kind of dirty, rawer sounding version of punk, yet keeping enough melody in verses, guitars and choruses to be called melodic punk. There are some indie and pop influences here and there with some garage punk and noise too. The vocals are raspy, raw, but sing and fit perfectly to the music. The lyrics are personal and I think all of us can relate to the themes of the songs. The songs that I somehow find the best on the album are Plastic, Mon Femme and Don´t Tell Me To Smile. This is a good debut album and I am interested to see how they will sound in the future.
