(new single-melodic hardcore)RESOLVE ‘Carmela’ New Single out now on Red Toad Music!

Ever since the public reveal in February 2017 of Resolve’s debut single Exposed, the Lyon, France based quartet has been eager to show their peer that they won’t settle for anything but greatness.  Their strong work ethic and attention to details allowed them to open shows for Architects, Every Time I Die, While She Sleeps to name a few, all of that within the first few months of the band’s stammering career.

The four boys spent the rest of their first year as a band touring their home country as well as Europe and the UK, and unveiled music videos one after the other, fulfilling their initial plan of releasing a fully watchable record.

Summer of 2018 saw the release of another EP, Stripped Down Session, offering a different take on some of the songs from ‘Reverie‘, as well as their own interpretation of the classic Foo Fighters song ‘Best of You’. But this little acoustic venture was just a prelude to the imminent release of Resolve’s new lead single, the melody-driven Carmela, a testimony to the band’s everlasting drive to push further their creative horizon.

This new track is called ‘Carmela’ and was written after the passing of our vocalist’s grandmother, Carmela Diliberto. More than a mourning song, the whole theme for it was the impact someone can have on your life, the ‘passing of the torch’ and the fear of yourself not leaving any lasting trace on your loved ones life.

When I’m gone, will someone miss me as much as I miss you?’

This is without a doubt the hardest we’ve ever worked on a single song, trying new things and aiming for different horizons, as well as doing everything ourselves, from the mixing to the video-making.

Singer and songwriter Jake Desrochers says, “When we started the band there was no social media. We didn’t feel the rush of the instant gratification. I felt compelled to write lyrics about the impulsive reaction to the constant barrage of other peoples thoughts, feelings and ideas. Everybody has a great reason to post about how awesome their lives are. Underneath it all we all suffer the same, everybody requires the same love and human connection.”

Formed in 1996 and reborn in 2016, the band consists of Luke Pabich (Good Riddance), Jake Desrochers (Lonely Kings), Jim Miner (Death By Stereo),Tom Kennedy (Fury 66) and Anthony Garay (Ghost Parade).

COERCION is a heavy, driving, angst ridden rock band with punk rock undertones. Powerful, expressive, engaging and relatable to anyone who likes hard edged, intoxicating music.

(record review)Kriva Istina-Manifest Pobune

Time for some more Croatian bands to grace the pages of this zine. If you don˙t believe in your local scene, you will never believe and change the global scene. Kriva Istina are from Slavonski Brod/Zagreb and this is their new album which I listened and reviewed for this zine.

This band is active now for years and they released one split record with Faak Am See and one album, so after some slight lineup changes, this is their new second album. I eagerly waited for this album after listening to the first single and kind of title track Manifest thousand times. Boy, I was not wrong. This is one of the best melodic hardcore punk albums to come out this year. It contains 11 songs of resistance, smart lyrics that leave you in depth thinking and above all awesome technical melodic hardcore skatepunk, not unlike Propagandhi and similar bands. The lyrics are in Croatian language and they deal with activism, making a difference, friendship, sexism and the whole record basically reflects the dark political situation that is happening in Croatia right now and leaves us with hope that there is still light in darkness and people who are striving to make a change and this world better for us all. If you are in energetic melodic positive hardcore punk, played fast with heart and soul, this record is just right one for you. Get this one!
