Crossed Keys (ex Kid Dynamite/Good Riddance) Premiere “Times of Grace”

Sometimes you need a healthy dose of melodic punk to push you through the rest of the work week. It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Philadelphia’s own Crossed Keys. Featuring former members of Kid Dynamite, Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer, and The Curse, Crossed Keys channel the sound and energy of the VFW shows that served as the foundation for the tri-state area underground scene throughout the 90’s and early aughts. In May of 2019, the band recorded seven tracks with Mike Bardzik (Joyce Manor, Spraynard, Kill Your Idols) at Noisy Little Critter. “Times of Grace” is a fiery track that plays like a love letter to the ethos of embracing D.I.Y. culture. You can stream the song and read a brief interview, with vocalist Joshua Alvarez, at New Noise Magazine. Saviors will be released on October 4th via Hellminded Records. “Set fire to all that you hold dear, so you don’t have to face your fears,” sings vocalist Joshua Alvarez (Halo of Snakes) in reflection of moving past the things that hold us back. After playing in numerous bands around Philadelphia over the years, the members of Crossed Keys bring their varied experiences together to create a unique, driving melodic sound.

Alvarez is joined by drummer Dave Wagenschutz (Kid Dynamite, Good Riddance), bassist Andrew Wellbrock (Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer), and guitarists Beau Brendley (The Curse, Kill The Man Who Questions, R.A.M.B.O.) and Dave Adoff (Step Ahead, Jackie Thousand). “Saviors” was recorded over a weekend in May 2019 at Noisy Little Critter in Downington, PA by Mike Bardzik (Joyce Manor, Kill Your Idols, Spraynard) and mastered at West West Side Music (The Misfits, Converge).

From the wistfulness of “Times of Grace” recalling shared times in basements and firehalls to the frustration of inaction voiced in the title track, “Saviors” is seven tales of gratefulness for all of those moments and people in our lives that led us to this point.

Crossed Keys has played venues all over the tri-state area, supporting bands such as H2O, Dave Hause & The Mermaid, The Lillingtons, Good Riddance, Shades Apart, and Strike Anywhere.

Stockholm, Sweden’s LIKE TORCHES has announced the release of their upcoming album Love And Losses, set for release on November 1st on Victory Records. These five passionate musicians have worked diligently across two continents over the last several years to create a fresh, stellar rock album for the current times. Today, the quintet deliver the first music video from the album, “The Guilt Of Surviving.”

“By realizing you’ve made mistakes you will grow and find strength,” confides guitarist/vocalist Daniel Karn. “The song is proving that you can find power and embrace your past, even the mistakes.”

“The music video takes us back to playing smaller shows, and just enjoying the small and simple things in life. Sometimes in the present, we might make things complicated for ourselves in trying to find happiness. Remembering these simpler times can help us overcome current obstacles and realizing that life doesn’t have to be complicated.”

Yellowcard vocalist Ryan Key took lead as producer as the Swedish outfit packed up and took to the streets of Nashville to create Loves And Losses. Key interjects, “It’s hard to explain the excitement hearing your work completed like this, so proud of these dudes and these songs.” On the recording of the band’s first material in over two years, Karn explains, “We wanted to combat our normal surroundings, and the culture of Nashville helped us be more creative and filled us with so much inspiration so we could find our perfect sound. We literally explored new territories and that allowed us to feel the highs and lows of being in a band, hence the name Loves And Losses.”

Rounded out by vocalist Jonathan Karn, guitarist Erik Thyr, bassist Zakarias Faleij and drummer Jimmy Brunkvist, LIKE TORCHES have toured with such artists as Hit The Lights, Memphis May Fire, Taking Back Sunday, Yellowcard and many others across Europe, Japan, the United States and Australia. Karn promises fans, “To everyone that has supported us through this journey: We took our time on this one. We wanted to make it right. And we did. The record came out sounding just the way we hoped and dreamed it would. Thank you so much for the patience and see you on the road soon!”

Long Island’s HANGMAN return after two years with “One Mistake,” the crushing new single from their upcoming debut full-length One By One, set for release on September 20th via Flatspot Records (see Revolver Magazine premiere).
“From the get-go on “One Mistake,” Hangman wear their influences on their sleeve, opening with a very classic intro that recalls famous entries by Leeway, No Warning, Outburst and more. Then the cut shifts into a very groove-oriented gear, with the drummer riding the hi-hat Nineties style and vocalist Dan Mulligan coming across with all of the fury of an early Karl Buechner” says Revolver of the new single.
Fresh off the heels of non-stop tours, the LIHC quintet return with their grooviest, most punishing release to date. One By One was produced and mixed by Greg Thomas and Chris Teti at Silver Bullet Studios in Connecticut, was mastered by Bill Henderson at Azimuth Mastering, and features guest vocals by Death Threat’s Aaron Butkus on the title track “One by One.” You can preorder the album here!
HANGMAN specialize in New York Hardcore of the most vitriolic variety. Armed with razor-sharp riffage and a vocalist that scorns all that he sees, Hangman propel their way through vicious grooves and bruising breakdowns, always brimming with the palpable energy, passion, and anger that they have become known for since their inception in 2014.
