Ricochet is the first single off of melodic punkrock group Fine Gents’ debut album Present. The music and lyrics capture the feeling of a panic attack that comes out of nowhere, striking terror in the heart and fear in the mind for no discernible reason. The vibe pays tribute to skatepunk anthems from classic bands such as Pennywise, Good Riddance, and No Use For a Name. Canada has such a great punk rock scene and Another Joe are part of that scene. After long 23 years they finally released their full length record with People of Punk Rock Records. This is a record containing 8 songs. This is not your all out war fast skate punk/hardcore, no. This is pure punk rock, played tight, harsh and with conviction. Songs are mid tempo, influenced by old school punk bands from England, but more technical and also influence of American school of punk rock can be heard in song structures. There is rawness that many today’s punk bands lack, but there are also subtle or less subtle melodies getting through the guitar riffs and some almost gentle backing vocals like in my personal favorite ‘Freak’. Maybe it is only me, but I can also hear a lots of garage punk energy in there, not only in the mentioned song, but through the album as a whole. Songs that I must also mention as my highlights are ‘Sound Advice’ and ‘T-Bird Tattoo’.
Revered as one of Canada’s most exciting punk rock bands from the 90s, Another Joe has regrouped and recorded a new album set for release in early 2023 in concert with People of Punk Rock Records and has released its first single on all streaming platforms called “Mexico”
Mexico comes screaming out of the gates with all the energy, and uplifting aggression modern-day rockers have been starving for. This is the anthem for anyone who wants to shed everyday life’s stress, anxiety and restrictions.

ABOUT THE BAND
High-value Canadian punk band Another Joe is back to making smart, exciting, and occasionally snotty rock music after a long hiatus. The group’s new album, Ready or Not, is their first noise since disbanding in 2001 after becoming established as one of the top draws in the Canadian scene. Set to drop early in 2023 in concert with People of Punk Rock Records, Ready or Not is an absolutely cracking set of new tunes that will quickly put Another Joe back in front of international crowds of fans, both old and new.
The band began in 1995 and built its following through extensive touring and playing locally with other important acts, including AFI, No Use for A Name, GOB, SNFU, Moneen, Chixdiggit, and The Suicide Machines (to name a few). Another Joe made four well-received albums during its original period, Pee Against The Wind featuring their first hit, Eat at Bernies, Ass Seen On TV (split with fellow Canadian punks, GOB), Cran-doodle Daddy, and Plasti-scene. The group went hard until then-drummer left the fold and a proper replacement proved hard to find. They finally called it quits in 2001.
Fast-forward to 2022, when Pee Against the Wind was remastered and re-released on streaming services for the first time and vinyl by People of Punk Rock Records. The fan response was overwhelming, and it became clear that there was still a demand for Another Joe.
Founding member Jon Glen had been writing and recording new material with no plans to reform the band but changed his mind after going through the creative process and discovering how many people wanted new music from Another Joe. Suddenly, putting the band back together seemed like an excellent idea.
The current lineup of Another Joe is the strongest in the group’s history and is primed to tour in 2023. Guitarist/vocalist Jon Glen, bassist/vocalist Alison Toews, guitarist/vocalist Ryan Wagner, and drummer/vocalist Mario Nieva are a high-energy crew ready to bring their wildly entertaining combination of melody, creativity, anger, and frustration to the masses. They’re more intense now than ever before and plan to retake their rightful place on top of the Canadian scene.
