(review) Cursebinder – ‘Drifting’ (Avantgarde Music)
Cursebinder are hailing from Krakow, Poland and they are another testament of Polish extreme underground music scene vastness and greatness with so many excellent bands coming from that mighty country. The band was formed in 2019 and this is their debut opus and it contains eight songs. Music of Cursebinder can be simply described as black metal but it is so much more. Coldness is definitely there with black metal guitar riffs and blast beats being delivered here and there to crush your meat from the bones. Vocals are bordering somewhere between black metal and death metal growls. Opener ‘Affected by Panic’ is example how this band easily shifts from aggressive total all out war black metal parts to more psychedelic and spacy cold post metal ambient guitar parts and tempo changes from blast beat war to a bit of groove and post rock. My personal favorites on this album are ‘Drifting’ the mighty title track with slower start and almost sludge parts and doom metal influenced parts, and also ‘Becoming’ with eerie and almost horror like atmosphere. So, if you like technical abilities, brutality and prowess of Behemoth and Mgla, combined with occasional melody, melancholy, post metal, atmospheric coldness of space and void, go try this band’s opus. I assure you that you will not regret it.

(review) Bizarrekult – ‘Den tapte krigen’ (Season of Mist)
Bizarrekult from Oslo, Norway released their new opus with Season of Mist. This opus contains 8 beautiful songs of melodic, visionary progressive black metal with many nods to old school Norwegian black metal like in perfect mix of aggression of raw melodic black metal and clean sung atmospheric melodies, almost out of body ethereal in ‘Du Lovet Meg’. I can’t resist the impression of doom and sludge influences I hear in slow but effective ‘Kongen’. The title song is kind of post black metal, almost cold in space atmospheric masterpiece of work. What sometimes bothers me with bands of this genre that they have too few songs and too long songs on one opus, but fortunately this is not the case here. This one is just the right length and so various to make this a listening pleasure. Eerie and gothic like melancholy turns into blasting almost bombastic black metal hymn in ‘Hvis Jeg Bare Kunne…’, this one being my personal favorite of this opus. Vocals are screamed, but more like anguished sad screams than extreme torture. I recommend for you to listen to this opus in whole total, not partly, because only then you will get the picture of this masterpiece.
