CAPTAIN KAISER UNLEASHED NEW SINGLE ‘HOTEL ROOM’

Five unshaved, but otherwise very clean young men from the Belgian Campine proudly present their new single. “Hotel Room” is the second single off their upcoming sophomore album “The Drovers Inn”.

“Hotel Room” is about how a hobby has evolved into a confusing hotchpot where the thin line between having fun and being pressured is slowly fading away. “Don’t push, I’m healing myself”.

The track covers a very recognizable theme in today’s society where high expectations are all around us, even in our leisure time.

Captain Kaiser made their debut in 2018 with full album “Dog Days On Deck”, which coursed through the Belgian punk scene’s veins in no time.

The Belgian fivesome found their inspiration for the new album in the Scottish pub “The Drovers Inn”, which therefore now is the record’s namesake.

Produced by Thomas Valkiers: guitarist of Crackups, producer for Equal Idiots, Tin Fingers and Psycho 44.

‘The Drovers Inn’ will be released by Bearded Punk Records (BE / EU) and White Russian Records (NL)

(review) The Lawrence Arms-Skeleton Coast(Epitaph)

cover

I must admit that I have never thoroughly listened to The Lawrence Arms. I remember they played Punk Rock Holiday in 2018. but I somehow missed their show due to drink or two that being last day of the festival on Friday as I recall.

For those that don˙t know, The Lawrence Arms are coming from Chicago and are playing excellent melodic punkrock with drive, energy, emotion and conviction. This record melted my face off, broke my heart, made me jumping with joy and delivered catharsis at the same time. Mixture of melodic singing, more harsh melodic screaming and fast punkrock, beautiful choruses and superb melodies made this record one of the best that came out this shitty festival free and gig free year. God damn, I miss gigs and hanging out at gigs singing along to my favorite bands. This record is outstanding with songs like Quiet Storm, Dead Man˙s Coat, Ghostwriter being my favorites on this record, but rest of the material is also fantastic.

(review) NAJVERIBEST-O jalu je riječ(re-issue remastered)

Najveribest were already featured on the pages of this zine in the series about the bands from my hometown, who described their history in their own words. What can I say? This album was and still is one of my personal favorite records from this area, since it came out on cassette 24 years ago on now defunct Barbarian records. I also remember Najveribest having so energetic shows that I loved so much, as a fan in front of the stage and sharing the stage with my then band Corewar. They were really ahead of their time with their hardcore/crossover equally mixing metal and punk roots in their awesome songs with lyrics in Croatian and English, some about fun and bullshit, some really personally themed stuff and anti-war which was so important back in the nineties in this country. Songs like Bar nešto, Problematika, Mučenje i glupost still are my favorites but also Go!, Fuckin War or Brother Hates Brother too. Now, 24 years later, thanks to Bero from Ill in the Head Records who re-released this gem and Ivan from Kut Sobe who did remastering, also Inspirited Media who did graphic solutions and design, this gem can shine again in all its glory stronger than ever. Go get this one if you are into hardcore crossover with balls, energy and attitude.
