(record review)SUICIDAL TENDENCIES-STill Cyco Punk After All These Years(Suicidal Records)

The legendary Suicidal Tendencies have a new, 13-th studio record out and I listened and reviewed it for our zine.

Well, in fact it is not really a brand new record musicwise, but a rerecording of the singer˙s Mike Muir solo album from 1996.called Lost My Brain(Once Again), minus two songs. The album contains 11 songs of a crazy mixture between punkrock and hardcore with crossover with Muir˙s trademark unmistakable voice on top of the songs and the guy sounds better than ever like he hasn˙t aged a minute through all these years. My favorite songs on this record are F.U.B.A.R., Lost My Brain and All I Ever Get. The album title is a game of words regarding the old album Still Cyco After All These Years which contained legendary tracks from the first and second album re-recorded. The cover reminds a bit of The Exploited logo and album covers, hehe. Mike Muir gathered an excellent musician crew  in the current incarnation of the band with legendary ex Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo and long time Infectious Grooves member Dean Pleasents, so the band is very tight and the energy just flows from my speakers while listening to this record. Good one.

This band comes from awesome Australian scene and from the city of Adelaide. The record contains 5 songs. The music the girls play is angry, but also melodic and emotional melodic hardcore punk. The lyrics on the record are personal, but at the same time addressing such issues as feminism and sexism. The vocals are harsh and screamed and they suit just fine to such music, but at the same time the voice transforms into melodic clean voice which interplays magnificently with the backing vocals. I love this record it is a strong manifest of ideas, stance and strength. Top song: Salvage.

Pittsburgh punk band World’s Scariest Police Chases is streaming a brand new single titled “MODERNBASEBALLISWAR” off the upcoming release, Ablum 3, out October 12 on Say-10 Records.

Pre-order Ablum 3 here: https://www.say-10.com/store/wspc.

At the end of 2016 World’s Scariest Police Chases started the recording process on what would become their third album, titled appropriately enough, Ablum 3.

Drums and bass were tracked at David Klug Studios (Rozwell Kid, The Minus Tide) in Pittsburgh, while the band was simultaneously finishing the writing and demoing of the songs.

The guys tracked guitars themselves, and then re-amped them and started on vocals back at Klug’s.

Ablum 3 was mix/mastered by Justin Francis (Anti-Flag, Roger Harvey, Edhochuli) in Nashville at Sound Stage Studio.

Kid Rock contributes guest vocal on the album, as the band stole a lyric from him on their song “Adolf Hipster.”
