(record review)ANTI FLAG-“American Fall”(Spinefarm Records)

I saw Anti Flag play live for the first time in my life this year at Punk Rock Holiday festival in Slovenia. It was an awesome experience and I still get goosebumps when I remember their set because they were totally the winner that day and one of the festival definitive highlights.

The fans of the band including me were eager to listen how this new album will sound like and it did not disappoint me. After the last one, “American Spring” comes “American Fall” and it is an awesome package of 11 songs. The music is as before melodic punk with some hardcore influences and ultra political lyrics dealing with racism, homophobia, current situation in America and the world which more and more becomes the slave playground for the rich and poorer get poor, so the world is just the baloon waiting to blow up and what will become of it, nobody knows.

As always, there are tracks that are for us who listen highlights and for me “Racists” and “The Criminals” are total standout tracks on this record and I hope that the band will include it in their live set because I am sure it will be fantastic live. This is an awesome album so check it out!

Sentence - Svaka Riječ Zakletva - cover

Sentence is hardcore punk band from Zagreb, Croatia. The band members are kinda veterans of Croatian hardcore scene, being in bands, doing zines and organizing gigs on the scene for many years. This is their new e.p. consisting of five songs with lyrics written in English language. The music is aggressive hardcore punk more of a old school style, 90-s mosh parts combined with fast drumming, just made in heaven for slaming and pogo in the pit. The vocals are screamed with gang singalong backing vocals and I can say with safety that for me personally, this new e.p. is the best release by this band so far. (record review)COMEBACK KID-“Outsider”(Nuclear Blast)

This is the brand new studio album number six by this Canadian hardcore punk champions! A lot of hardcore kids I know nowadays in the scene go to sleep and wake up with the Comeback Kid lyrics and music, so I was eager to check on the new album!

The opener, title track is typical modern hardcore songs with straightforward rythm and shouted angry vocals and to be honest, it did not leave some effect on me. But the second song “Surrender Control” is a real hit, mixing angry groovy openings and anthemic melodic chorus.

Thrash metal influences are very visible in “Absolute” which features guest performance by none other than Dewin Townsend of Strapping Young Lad and of course it is an energetic in your face song with lots of gang back vocals.  “Hell of a Scene” is a mixture of angry fast hardcore and more emotional melodies. Of course, still is yet to come, so one of the best songs on the album is for sure “Consumed the Vision” featuring guest performance by Chris Cresswell of The Flatliners and I must also mention “Ill be that” as one of my top songs.

All the hardcore and punk kids out there will just love this record and get it because it is an example how modern and energetic hardcore should sound like.
