The Rumperts flew to the legendary Blasting Room in the USA to record their new album for SBÄM Records! “New Age Jesus” will be released as LP and CD on April 28th 2023!
They already present the title track on March 3rd. “New Age Jesus” deals with the theme of “people pleasings” and the addiction to be loved, needed and admired by everyone. It critiques an inauthentic youth culture driven primarily by these attributes. The quest for attention and admiration for one’s own self-worth, which is dependent on others, has become a business on social media with thousands of followers, which almost seems like a cult.
Niki Lauda Firefighters are coming from Berlin, Germany and this is their demo, offering four songs. The music on this demo is just what I needed this morning, meaning fast and epic hardcore punk with angry screaming vocals and delivering punches in your gut with songs like ‘TikToks From The Trenches’ or ‘One Pint, One Piss’. This is a superb demo with blistering raging fast guitars still delivering mighty melodies behind all of it, angry guy screaming his lungs out and ironic/nihilistic/black humor lyrics and they reminded me a lot of S.O.D. or M.O.D. with their mixture of thrash and hardcore punk here. I can’t wait for more. This one is just too short, how good it is.

About half the tunes on the new album were written in that basement. Like many a horn line before that was written while feeling a bit worse for wear, it was both very catchy but also incredibly difficult to play that fast on a slide trombone. Bobble is his own worst enemy for this’With dub reggae influences glimmering through when you scratch the surface, the song’s middle eight drops into a breakbeat drum and bass sample that only serves to bring even more energy to the band’s dancefloor-ready new record.The Road To Sedition is a call to arms, marching to a beat of blistering horn riffs and shout-along choruses.
