Manchester’s Ska-Punk band Harijan release video for their second single ‘Skint’. The song looks at life being hard-up, having no money and struggling to get by.
Skint is the second single from Harijan’s self-titled debut album. The song is about being hard-up, having no money and struggling to get by. It’s about being hungry and not having enough for the gas and ‘leccy meters. It’s about being trapped, feeling you are a let-down and wishing you could be given just half a chance to realise your potential. In essence it’s a song about inequality and lack of opportunities as the riches in society are thrown in your face. You see money pouring into the city centre and you ponder a life of crime to break you out. The video simply depicts and documents Manchester, both outer and inner-city, from the car. It takes inspiration from Greg Meade’s artwork for the Harijan album and hopes to capture the vibes from his Habitats exhibition. The rows of housing contrasts the city skyscrapers, with various cultural, social and community nuggets placed throughout.
Do you guys remember awesome band from Austria called Missstand? I saw their energetic show at Tepih na paleti festival in Slovenia couple of years ago and later on interviewed the guys for this zine.
Now, they released new song taken of their brand new record coming in July. Check this one out!
Authority Zero are back with new e.p. These legends deliver five songs on this record. I witnessed this band play live and their show was one of the best punk rock shows I saw ever! Authority Zero play a mixture of melodic hardcore and skate punk coupled with ska and reggae in some songs and it sounds perfect! This one contains absolute hit that I am sure will be a bomb at live shows called Ollie Ollie Oxen Free with anthemic chorus just made for singing along and pumping your fists in the air. Fire Off Another is a more mid tempo punk song, reminding me a bit of Bad Religion in some parts. Jason DeVore has such a mighty and beautiful voice, harsh and melodic at the same time. The title song is another favorite of mine on this e.p. reminding me why I love this band a lot. Cool song with such nice lyrics and melody. Seas and Serpents is a punk anthem with message to hold on and keep our heads up and not all is over. Have You Ever is typical AZ lovely fast song to make your day better. Perfect e.p.
