(record review)The Rumjacks-Saints Preserve Us!

The Rumjacks recently released their new, fourth album and I listened and reviewed the album for our zine. Read on!

2018 - Saints Preserve Us!

I didn´t know for this band until 2016.and their show at Punk Rock Holiday, which made me listen to the albums and keep an eye and ear open for this band. Usually, I am not too keen for all the celtic punk and folk punk bands out there, but this album is just somehow made for my ears. These Australians  deliver mighty set with 12 songs of celtic folk punkrock with a lot of melody, sing along choruses, fun and emotion. There are reggae and ska influences in Fare Evader, the title track and A Dozen Good Reasons To Weep which is one of my favorite songs on this record. Also, I love The Foreman O´Rourke with the guest performance by Paul McKenzie of The Real McKenzies delivering nice vocal guest lines. This is a very good album which even non celtic folk punkrock fans like me dig good.

(record review)Debt Neglector-The Kids Are Pissed

Debt Neglector are punks from Orlando, Florida and their new record is out now! I listened and reviewed it for this zine.

debtneglector ep

I must admit that it˙s a shame but I have never heard of these guys prior to this record but this record corrected that mistake. This record contains 6 songs of straight from the heart melodic punkrock. The songs are not too fast, rather mid tempo punkrock with nice vocal melodies and what is more important excellent and smart lyrics that are covering mainly political like Scared of U.S. to personal and one of my favorite songs on the record is New White Roses which is as I understand about resisting tyrannical and fascist government like White Rose organization that opposed the Nazis in Germany during WW2. All of the songs are awesome, energetic, heartfelt but still proving that punk can be political and melodic at the same time. Check out this band and this record because they will become one of your favorites for sure.

(record review)RELIANCE-Crashing Down e.p.

Reliance are punk band from Prescott, Arizona and I listened and reviewed their new record for this zine. If you like melodic punkrock, go for it, read the review and get this nice record!

This new e.p. contains 6 songs and the music Reliance are playing is neither fast nor slow melodic punkrock/skatepunk with beautiful verse and chorus melodies, sing along parts and this music is just made to make your day a bit better when you listen to this record. On some songs, like for example Once Blind which is one of my favorite songs on this record besides the title track, the guys somehow reminded me of old Pennywise records. The vocals are nice, the singer does that deeper, a bit harsher voice but also suitable for those melodies which made my skin crawl with goosebumps. As I understand while listening, the lyrics are of more personal nature and I love punk with heart and soul, I said it before and I will say it again. This is a damn fine record if you love melodic punk like I do.
