Downstater are hailing from Quebec City, Canada and this is their debut full length that came out with People of Punk Rock Records. This one contains ten songs. What do we get here? We get dose of melodic punk/skate punk with nineties influences, like it was played back in the days reminding me of all those bands that I grew up with. This album is emotional, dramatic, intense and melancholic, but also grandiose in richness of melody, backing vocal harmonies and superb songwriting. From the excellent opener ‘Thanks For Nothing’ which grinds everything in its path with contagious melody and superb chorus, this record is a rollercoaster of emotion, goosebumps and above all great excellent punk rock like we are used to from bands in Canadian scene. Musicianship is tight and if I must compare this band to some other bands it would be a mixture of No Use For A Name and Strung Out, being technical yet in your face punk rock at the same time, even with I dare say pop punk sensibility. Vocals are not too mellow or snotty at all, they are strong but fit in like butter on fine bread. It is very hard for me to choose favorites between these ten songs, because they are all excellent, but I will try. They are: ‘Call Me When You’re Dead’, ‘Let You Down’ and ‘Cruelest Defeats’ along with above mentioned song. I love this band and album!

Yvet Garden will release their next EP ‘A Long Way Down’ on KROD Records in late autumn 2023. Here is the new single/video!
Yvet Garden have signed to KROD Records for a very dark EP, more melancholy and rocking than their previous pop-punk releases. This will be a 6-track EP on a pretty purple vinyl format, which will be available for pre-order in September. Yvet Garden presents their second single ‘ When The Angels Fall‘ from the EP.
When The Angels Fall, as its name suggests, is a rather dark song about depression. Rudy from the band tells us more about his story:
After our epic trip to the UK at the end of 2019, some members took a step back from the band and the global pandemic followed, which was mentally quite difficult on a personal level for all of us. This song is the 1st composition Flo has come up with since then, and I was keen to express what I was feeling at the time. Depression is a subject I take very seriously, as it’s often invisible to others and can cause a lot of damage. Rest assured, I’m fine! But not everyone is, so don’t hesitate to speak out. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
Yvet Garden in a few words…
Formed in 2015 in Valence, Yvet Garden is all about rock. Sometimes punk-rock, sometimes metal, the 4 valentines string together their devastating riffs through atmospheres tinged with darkness and melancholy. Following the release of their 1st EP “Twisted Tales” in 2018, the band has forged a solid live reputation across France and England. Both in clubs and in some of the country’s finest venues (Bataclan, Transbordeur, Backstage, CCO). In the course of 2021, the band will return to the studio illegally during confinement to record their second opus, scheduled for autumn 2023. This will mark a transition in the band’s musical evolution, under the impetus of KROD Records, which the quartet will join in early 2023.
Dutch punk rockers Sun-0-Bathers new music video for ‘Rip It To Shreds’!
Almost three years after their last EP, June 21st – the first day of summer – seems like the perfect timing for Dutch punk rockers Sun-0-Bathers to release the music video for their brand new track “Rip It To Shreds“!
So, what to to expect? Fast, ripping skatepunk favored by skateboarders, surfpunks and high school jocks in the 90’s. Perhaps a nice mixture of Pennywise, Guttermouth, Pulley, Night Birds and Rich Kids On LSD will justify describing this brain melting banger. Time to put on your Vans, Dickies shorts and annoy your neighbors with “Rip It To Shreds!”
Sun-0-Bathers was formed in the summer of 2017 in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. The band released their first EP “Local Warming” in 2018 and their follow-up EP “Floater” in 2020. Since their inception Sun-0-Bathers have toured in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France and Italy and did support shows for U.K. Subs, Down By Law, Cigar and Not On Tour among others.
