Just when I think that WTF Records can t amaze me more with their fantastic releases, I open mail and see this jewel. Okay, I put it on and was immediately blown away by the music of Once I Cry. This record is in fact their re mastered 7 inch, unreleased songs and live tracks. Once I Cry are old school hardcore band from Holland, like the ones I grew up listening to, featuring former members of Crivits, Phlebotomized, Shelter, North and many more. That means full on speed youth crew hardcore, melody, great lyrics and sing along parts and believe it or not, some songs made goosebumps on my skin, like rarely a band manages to do to me today. Songs like Platitude, I won t be there, A fire inside, New Youth Crew and similar bring to the forefront some feelings that I think I almost buried along the way, being hardcore pride, sxe pride and smile upon my tired face hehe. Superb record!
Chicago s favorite sons are back with new record! Naked Raygun are punk rock veterans and I am glad to still see them go and sounding strong after all these years and still causing a whirlwind, real storm of emotions with their melodic old school pop punk rock. This new bunch of songs has something for everyone, from sweet chorus of Treat Me Unkind that I love so much, to almost psyched ending of Soul Hole Baby, across haunting, atmospheric noisy and garage rock Suicide Bomb, pure unaldurated punk fun of Broken Things, this album is very versatile using punk rock as it was meant to be, as a means of creativity in song writing and making a whole new world of sound for us listeners to enjoy. I can almost smell the sweaty, smoke filled garage and club full of punks listening to this band and let Naked Raygun take you to otherworldly experience of rock. Nice album.
New music from punk rock icon Billy Idol is finally out. This new e.p. contains four songs featuring iconic long time associate guitarist Steve Stevens. Rita Hayworth is a straightforward punk rock song reminding me of old days when I was a kid rocking with this icon s songs all day long. This new e.p. was done in a lockdown pandemic period so it is personal and introspective, especially in awesome Bitter Taste which is personal favorite of mine. U Dont Have To Kiss Me Like That is classic Billy song, more rock oriented and kinda cheerful. Baby Put Your Clothes Back On is a slower, melodic kinda ballad like wicked little song to close this e.p. It will be interesting when new full length comes out.
