Last month Sunliner released their new EP ‘Structure / Average At Best’ on Lockjaw Records and Paper + Plastick.

Now, Sunliner release a brand new music video for the track ‘Average At Best’. Made in lockdown with things, bassist Caffs found around his house.

Vocalist Jake McAllister shouts, “The ground’s moving, and I’m spinning plates,” on Average at Best, evoking the sense of modern overwhelm that we can all relate to.
Describing his songwriting, Jake says, “I always try to make lyrics personal and to tell an arc, but I want to the listener to feel like I could be talking about them. We all struggle, and all have our worries and problems. I might not be able to fix them, but hopefully we can make people feel even a little less alone.”

The EP is out on Lockjaw Records (UK/EU) and Paper + Plastick (USA) on 22 May 2020. and is available as a picture flexi-disc with a host of fun extras, and exceptional artwork from Eloise McAllister.

As an effort to help in these troubling times, Sunliner will be donating £1 from each sale of the Flexi-disc to Leeds North & West Foodbank.

On June 5th, California independent label, Bad Time Records, quietly released a split 7-inch that pairs Philadelphia’s soul-ska outfit, Catbite with East Bay’s newest ska-punk trio Omnigone – featuring members of the beloved late 90’s ska-core band Link 80. The blue/pink + splatter variant (200) sold out within a few days of the pre-order going live. Last week, Bad Time Records announced that a new neon pink variant (100) was available to purchase. Originally intended as the “band exclusive” variant both Catbite and Omnigone opted to have all proceeds donated to the National Black Arts Foundation. Along with the new variant, Catbite put together a music video for their cover of “Horizontal Aggression” (Omnigone). If you need two minutes of cats and dogs dancing to ska music then this is the video for you.

Bio:

Catbite is Brittany, Tim, Ben & Chris. To the uninitiated: they are your new favorite band, you just don’t know it yet. Blending ska with 50’s rock, soul & punk, their sound is simultaneously classic & forward-thinking. It’s music for the next generation of punks, you could put it on and dance with your grandmother to it. Their debut self-titled release on Bad Time Records has been well received by the music community, often sited as being a definitive example of how ska can be done right.

Western Addiction are back with their new record on Fat Wreck Chords.

What do we get with this one? Well, we get 11 songs of emotional, heartfelt, sometimes harsh and bitter, yet melodic punkrock like we are used to from this fine band. I get the feeling this record is kinda more angry and more anguished then the last one, it must be sign of the times. I love They Burned Our Paintings, it is one of the highlights of this record, also the title songs, then two part Rose`s Hammer and also Utter Despair. The vocals are shouted and angry, yet fit perfectly with raw punk filled with melodic hooks and pure untamed energy in the fast paced songs, singalong backing vocals and streetpunk atmosphere. Good one.
