Montreal-based skatepunk unit The Speakeasy has revealed a new single called “Sunday Blues”. The single is off the band’s upcoming EP “Tales From The Moonshiner Part Two: Requiem” due out October 20th via Thousand Islands Records. Here’s what frontman Karl Bullets stated about the song:

“Based on the Johnny Cash classic “Sunday Morning Coming Down”, Sunday Blues is about reminiscing a glorious weekend when all of a sudden the thought of going back to work creeps into your mind, the unavoidable cycle of life.”

About The Speakeasy:

Hailing from Montreal, The Speakeasy are best known for their energetic live performances with their blend of heavy skatepunk. Led upfront by Karl Bullets with his distinctive gravel-throated voice tone, the band caught everyone by surprise in 2019 when revealing the music video for “Death Sentence”. The same year saw the release of their debut EP “Tales From The Moonshiner Part 1: Death Sentence”, with songs like “The Night Of The Living Dead” and “Death Sentence” quickly becoming fans favorites.

In 2020 The Speakeasy joined Thousand Islands Records with plans of releasing a new EP entitled “Tales From The Moonshiner Part Two: Requiem”. The band provided a taste of the upcoming new offering with the release on September 14 of the “Sunday Blues” single.

“Tales From The Moonshiner Part Two: Requiem” is scheduled for release on October 20th, 2020.

(review) They Stay Dead-REGRESSION E.P.

They Stay Dead  are hailing from Oklahoma and this is their new e.p. containing 3 songs.  Their Bandcamp says hard rock from retired skatepunks and that led me to something totally different than the music on this record really is. These three songs are pure melodic hardcore punk with speed, ferociousness, a bit metalic sound, I can even here some nwobhm in guitar work of Shiny Things. But, for me the best song on the record is fast, melodic and straightforward Zipped Up, being most hardcore punk song on this record. The third song Plague Bearer is kinda most complex with middle part of almost mathematical changes and metalic sounding. This one is good one. Go try!

Chaser are back! After their last record Sound The Sirens which was for me one of the best melodic punk albums in 2018. they are releasing their e.p. with two brand new songs called Look Alive and Found Myself Again.

As we are used from Chaser, they combine excellent musicianship with fantastic melodic voice, courtesy of singer Mike LeDonne and guitars of Bill Hockmuth(formerly of another great band Castoff), with pumping bass of Jesse Stopnitzky and superb drums of Davey Guy. The lyrics are cool, because they are personal and inspiring to drive forward and never surrender, but also through the lines you have to see the political situation too. Although both songs are superb, I somehow love the title song more, with Found Myself Again being more harsh in verse, transforming into awesome anthemic chorus just made for singing along like only Chaser can make. I cant wait to see these guys on tour in Europe again and witness old and new material because this band means so much to me.
