(record review)SATANIC SURFERS-“Back from Hell”

They´re back! This is the first Satanic Surfers new studio record in 13 long and bloody years!

Swedish skatepunk legends finally treated us mortals with new record and by God it is awesome! I loved every single second of it! The record contains 10 tracks of energetic and melodic pumping skatepunk melodic hardcore. I love Rodrigo´s voice since the early Satanic Surfers/Intensity days and he sounds better than ever! From the fast paced openers “The Usurper” and “Catch my breath” which is one of my favourites on this record we witness tight songwriting. metallic and melodic hooks and changes in song atmosphere but retaining that uplifting fist pumping in the air vibe. “Self medication” is midtempo song to let us rest a while but then the true gems of the record strike! “All gone to shit” and “Ain´t no ripper” are fast melodic anthems and I can´t wait to see and hear these guys live finally, since I missed them back in the days in the 90-ies. In “Madhouse” all Rodrigo´s singing beauty comes out in vocal melody carrying the song. “Going nowhere fast” reminds a lot of old days of second half of the 90-ies when I first heard these guys and their awesome music. “Paying tribute” has some of the harshest and at the same time nicest skatepunk sound that I have heard and great chorus. When I heard “Pato Loco” I considered it a weird metalic technical song, which I guess it is with a lot of solo guitars and not so much lyrics. Last but not least, the title track is an anthem in itself and absolutely one of the best if not the best song on this record! An awesome comeback!

(record review)PMX-“Clochridgestone”(No Bad Records)

I am ashamed to admit it, but I never heard of PMX prior to this record, so silly me. Where was I to miss such great band? This Scottish skatepunk melodycore band is just awesome. So, all of these songs on this record are new to me, so I can review the record for this zine.

This is in fact a live studio album consisting of older songs and two new tracks. PMX play skatepunk, fast paced and energetic with a lot of hardcore and metal influences. These guys are technically superb on their instruments. PMX´s music is so special that you can at the same time sing along, mosh, pogo and get emotional an hug a sweaty kid standing in the pit next to you. For me the absolute highlights on this album are “Another Day”, “Clown” and “Who Are We To Pray”.

These Britts are known for their ferocious, energetic live shows playing awesome melodic hardcore punk. I was able to witness one of their shows at last year´s Punk Rock Holiday where they headlined the Beach stage.
