(record review)SLUND-“If you´re angry and you know it, clap your hands”(Bruxism Records)

Slovenia has great underground scene and I love the bands and going to gigs there. This time I listened to and reviewed the new record by SLUND.

This band plays a mix of powerviolence hardcore, sludge and punk, for your dirty hearing pleasure. The album contains 14 songs mainly under one minute long with two or three exceptions not longer than minute and half hehe, meaning pure powerviolence with screaming vocals, noisy blastbeats turning fast into sludgy punk mid tempo parts all spiced with sarcastic samples and song titles such as “Forget you, motherforgetter” or “Insulting you in medieval ways” to name just a few. When you read the lyrics they sound funny, but actually the lyrics contain critical view on many things that bother us in the world today but they are so cleverly packed in sarcasm and humour so this is another plus for the band in my opinion. Great record to scream your lungs out to!

(record review)URSKOG-“Evig Vinter”(Ididit)

From the northern Swedish marshes comes Urskog, and this is their new release and I listened to it and reviewed it for this webzine.

This band was started in 2013.as the brainchild of one Anders Persson who is the creator of all music. The record contains two songs. The music of Urskog is some sort of hybrid patchwork of melodic death metal, thrash metal and sludge. This is dark stuff but also a lot of catchy melodies in the guitar structures of the songs give some hope to the listener that things are not all that darkened. The lyrics to the both songs are in English, so I can´t understand what is being sung but the infosheet says that the lyrics deal with man corrupting nature and how the nature will take it´s revenge one day upon humanity. This is a decent release and I am sorry that this is a one man band, because I would love to hear this material being played live.

(record review)Frayle-“The White Witch e.p.”(Seeing Red Records/Lay Bare Recordings)

I must admit that I have never heard of Frayle prior to listening to this record. They recently released their new e.p.via Seeing Red Records and  Lay Bare Recordings and I listened to the record and reviewed it for this webzine.

Frayle are hailing from Cleveland, USA area and are playing doom metal with dreamy and sometimes nightmarish soundscapes that repeat in your ear while listening almost ritualistic and rolling over you and afterwards you feel exhausted but somehow sad and also happy in a depressive sort of way. The record contains four songs with the title track being more sludgy excursion into more greasy and dirtier riffing and for me the best song of the record is for sure “Wandering Star” which left me dreamy and hazy after listening and I don´t use any of the spiritual pipe dream shit to enhance my feelings while listening to the music that I like. The vocals add to the atmosphere and it is not dark it is rather like when you dream something and you know that something horrible is about to happen and you can´t do shit about it. Good record even for me, who don˙t like doom so much.
