(review) NO REDEEMING SOCIAL VALUE – WASTED FOR LIFE

NYHC legends No Redeeming Social Value have a new record out. Formed in 1988. in Queens, they rock their vision of hardcore for more than three decades now. What I love about this band is that they play that old school hardcore we all know and love, leaning more on oi and street punk roots than this death metal crap they sell as hardcore nowadays. This record continues their more of a party hardcore mixed with serious lyrics about anxiety, friendship, scene and in all their humor and party lyrics you can find lots to identify yourself with if you listen and read between the lines. This album has many fan favorites just made for singing along at gigs, like Brew Crew, Wasted for Life, Punkrock Wedding Song, NYC NRSV, damn that is already almost half of the album which contains only ten songs. Dual vocals, anthemic song parts, make this record a new jewel in the hardcore crown. NRSV proudly carries on where Warzone stopped after the untimely death of Raybeez.

Evo nakon dugo vremena jednog posta na matičnom jeziku. Uveli smo novitet u zine koji se zove bend tjedna.  U ovoj prvoj epizodi predstavljamo punkrock/streetpunk bend iz Apatina, Srbija, a to je Majkan.

Majkan je punk rock bend iz Apatina, oformljen u siječnju 2019.g. Bend je u početku svirao obrade domaćih punk grupa, ali ubrzo počinju raditi i autorske pjesme. Prvi single za pjesmu  Ajmo u kafanu  su objavili u studenom 2019g.  Pjesma u kratkom vremenu postala hit i omogućila bendu promociju i brojne nastupe. Početkom 2020.g Majkan izdaje drugi single za pjesmu Dobro veče, kojim stiču još više publike. Poslije pauze izazvane pandemijom, Majkan nastavlja sa radom i krajem svibnja je izašao treći single Kao pre. Pjesma dobija dobre kritike i bend u lipnju održava nekoliko uspješnih koncerata. Krajem lipnja, objavljen je četvrti single za pjesmu  Laku Noć”. Spot sadrži kadrove sa nastupa iz Apatina, Novog Sada i Stapara. Sve  pjesme su snimljene pod producentskom palicom Nemanje Kalinića. 

Bend trenutno radi na novim pjesmama i uskoro se očekuje još jedan singl. 

Majkan čine iskusni muzičari koji su svirali u mnogim metal, punk i rock bendovima. Bend svoju pravu snagu pokazuje na koncertima gdje dolazi do velike razmene  energije između njih i publike. Članovi benda su : Igor Bukvić – bubnjevi , Nemanja Kalinić – gitara i prateći vokali, Rade Balać – vokal i bas.

(review) Ramallah-The Last Gasp Of Street Rock ´N´ Roll

Blood For Blood from Boston are such influence for me with their great street hardcore with balls, heartbroken and street life lyrics and great melodies. Blood For Blood are dead, but Rob Lind continued the fight with Ramallah. This new record contains 8 songs of heartbroken, strong and emotional songs. This is maybe not your fast paced straightforward hardcore punk, but it is streetpunk oi hardcore at its finest. While listening to these songs, I had goosebumps on my skin and my bald head. It made me pump my fist in the air, but also made me cry with sorrow, and in the end it brought kinda hardcore catharsis in my blackened heart. I totally saw myself in the lyrics in the songs, in the melody and guitar work, so this record holds such a special place in my heart. Songs like acoustic gentle Bye Bye or the title song, or many Bruisers and Blood For Blood hommages to the lyrics like the rendition of City Boy and fantastic The Times We Had, make me wanna listen all over again and again. This record connects the glorious odes to the past with the future and the persistence in the scene. I am currently at the most difficult time of my life and countless times in last couple of months I thought just to end it all, but this record serves as my therapy, fucked up therapy, but still worth living. Classic!
