(review) La Moxie-You´ve Burnt Your Bridge, Now Lie In It(Real Ghost Records)

927efc50-fb29-4fb2-872b-f1ac128574bd

La Moxie are from Birmingham and they have a new record e.p. out with Real Ghost Records. there are six songs on this one. The quartet plays their vision of melodic punk, leaning more on pop punk and emotional side of things than on straightforward skatepunk charge. They remind me of Bambix a bit and Baby Gopal maybe with a bit of Tilt thrown in here and there. The music is harsh enough with great punkrock riffs to satisfy the hungry punk in you, but also Lauren´s great voice makes melancholic and kinda sad vibe to the songs. I listen this e.p. during daylight and on a warm and sunny Spring day in April, but it still makes me somehow sad and dreamy, the music of La Moxie takes me to other places with their soundscape. Recommended songs: No U, A Song For Charlotte.

(review) Brassick-2.0(TNSrecords/Mass Prod)

cover

Brassick are from UK and this is their long awaited second full length album. What do we get here? For sure, an awesome piece of music. There are 14 songs of fast almost screaming angry hardcore punk with sociopolitical lyrical messages, antifascist stand, unity, equality and all the issues some people tend to forget and are important right now more than ever. The music is technically strong, with awesome barrage riffs, fast drumming, almost some crusty parts, bordering with trademark old school UK sound, then turning to some melodic hardcore punk catchy tunes and I love every second of this album. I would definitely love to see these guys perform live. Recommended songs: Vultures of the poor, They say, for fuck´s sake the whole album!

(new single) Burnt Tapes release new track Greek Wood

f74957ca-c24e-4363-aed9-5d83d633cb46

At the tail end of 2019 the Burnt Tapes returned back to the Ranch production house with producer Daly George (Creeper, Milk Teeth, Boston Manor, Darko) to record a couple of new tracks to bookend their debut album, ‘Never Better’.

A year after the album release, they present their first single ‘Greek Wood’. The track sees the band return on top form, by delivering the listener a healthy dose of what Burnt Tapes do best: Melodic punk rock with lyrics of regret.

Vocalist/Guitarist Pan says ”’Greek Wood’ is a coming of age song in all the wrong ways, lost youth, lost love, lost time. It is not a penis metaphor, although it could be if you want it to be.”

The track is released digitally today, March 27th via Wiretap Records in the US and Lockjaw Records in the EU/UK.

The band had to put various tour plans on hold whilst we all keep safe and sort out this COVID-19 problem, but expect them to return to the road as soon as possible.

Burnt Tapes are known for creating their own unique brand of melodic punk-rock: ‘regret punk’. Inspired by emotive heavy-hitters like Iron Chic, Hot Water Music and The Lawrence Arms, Burnt Tapes create stories through gruff vocals, layered melodies and tattoo-worthy lyrical twists.
