‘Whimsical’, against all remorse – Amalia Bloom’s new single celebrates the desire for change!

Whimsical is the new single by Amalia Bloom. The Italian band dynamically combines the most confidential emo with more rough sound choices. This new track, the first extract from their forthcoming album, is an intimate and visceral invitation to launch ourselves into a radical change to live peacefully and without any remorse.

Whimsical” is an adjective that the band ironically associates with memories, representing the oddities of everyday life in a city that seems unable to let go of its inhabitants. In the lyrics, an old woman takes a walk with her (past and future) grandson and, while holding their hand, she reflects on the features of the city she never had the courage to leave. Nostalgia mixes with remorse, creating a dense and bitter fluid: the routine we have crafted for ourselves is what we are today, but what would we be now if we had been able to take more risks?

Musically, the song perfectly describes the two souls of the band: a shy, almost whispered opening gives way to dynamic and screamed parts, in a game of balance that reaches its climax with a final explosion in the chorus, intense both instrumentally and vocally. The sound is enriched by some Fender Rhodes parts, arranged and performed by Elia Guglielmi, the sound engineer of the whole record.

In the video directed by Yari Ricco, the twilight of an empty theater hosts the concert of the band, which merges with the performance of the dancer Silvia Garulli of the Compagnia Sisina Augusta, in a communion of intent the two artistic forms influence and complete each other. The single anticipates the band’s second studio album, “Picturesque“, out on May 13, 2022.

New single from punk duo The Sewer Cats!

Answer the Question is the first single from The Sewer Cats debut album ‘Cute Aggression’, which is set for release on TNSrecords on 15.04.22.

Answer the Question was born out of frustration with the catastrophe of a government and the endless lies upon lies. Its about trying to hold politicians to account while they weasel out of one shocking blunder after another. Released today alongside a new video, the single is available to stream everywhere.

Ferocious, fuzzy, feline-inclined… The Sewer Cats are an explosive Manchester-based punk duo delivering riotous tunes of patriarchy-smashing fury. Their short and snappy songs have been described as ‘catchy and scathing’, bursting with hooky riffs drenched in fuzz and aggressive riot-grrrl vocals, all served up with a big helping of sass.

‘Cute Aggression’ follows on from The Sewer Cats’ frenetic debut EP ‘Zelda’, released in 2020. Written during lockdown, ‘Cute Aggression’ sees the band tread a darker path both lyrically and sonically, whilst embracing their wider musical influences. The result is a varied record that fuses The Sewer Cats’ classic garage punk and riot grrrl roots with smatterings of hardcore, atmospheric post-rock, doom and emo-hardcore.

Vocalist (and drummer) Cass gives a timeless and visceral vocal delivery on ‘Cute Aggression’. Dripping with sass, she explores feminist themes and the shit-storm of the political landscape that we find ourselves in. ‘Cute Aggression’ also delves into personal topics such as grief and loss and is clearly touched by the pervasive feeling that we seem to be careering towards a zombie apocalypse. It’s not all doom and gloom though, as The Sewer Cats still find time for their trademark tongue in cheek oddness, as epitomised by the title track and album ender.

The Sewer Cats have become known for their energetic live shows and fans will be pleased to hear that this is once again at the forefront of their latest release. ‘Cute Aggression’ is a huge sounding record with the band’s trademark fuzz-drenched guitar sound pounding out one massive riff after another.

‘Cute Aggression’ is full of changes in pace, tone and mood and is a record that keeps you on your toes from start to finish. With their debut album The Sewer Cats have found their feet as a band as they push themselves into new sonic territories.

(recenzija) SAKIS TOLIS – Among The Fires Of Hell

Riječ je o melodičnom black metalu grčke škole, topao mediteranski zvuk melodija, a opet opakog prizvuka, uz nešto više doom metal i gothic metal utjecaja nego Rotting Christ, a manje folka. Prevladava Sakisov moćan vokalni growl, ali clean vokali i zborski dijelovi melodija su ono što čini ovaj opus jednim moćnim ostvarenjem. Meni su se nekako najviše dojmile naslovna pjesma, a još i We…The Fallen Angels i The Silence. Ovo je jak e.p. majstora ekstremnog metala i preporučam svakom tko je fan Rotting Christ, a i onima koji nisu.
