I love Finnish black metal. Besides Norwegian and black metal from my home country of Croatia, Finnish is my favorite. Bloodmother were formed in 2023 and this is their first full length opus containing nine songs. The music of Bloodmother can be described as raw in production but energetic and melodic black metal, having that melancholic line that is so special to Finnish bands. Vocals are black metal screaming but sounding good, not too extreme, but at the same time fit perfectly to the songwriting. Lyrics are in English and deal with misanthropy, some personal themes, Satanism. Besides blast beats and fast parts there are also some more atmospheric song parts, calming us in our introspection before returning to aggression. This album as a whole sounds very compact like a black metal declaration of war. My personal favorites on this opus are Iron Hound, Stella Invictus and You Are Nothing. This is a crushing opus of melodic black metal, done in Finnish style and a very strong debut.
