(book review) Stjepan Juras – U malom vrtu raste divlji plod – Divlje Jagode

Well, how to start this one? This book is nicely done with many unreleased photographs in color, expensive paper and in all, represents a real treat for eyes. But it is very hard for reading the text pages, because font is small, the lines are too much together and it gets boring and painful because the contents are a bit boring. The book was written by Stjepan Stipe Juras, an infamous guy on Croatian metal scene. This is the guy who cheated many bands, promotors, a liar and a thief whose infamous deeds are legendary even now, years after he did them. The guy also spent five months in jail for a sexual crime for which he was later proclaimed not guilty. Book is the story of Divlje Jagode(Wild Strawberries), one of the greatest heavy/rock bands from former state of Yugoslavia. This is the story of their albums, one by one, with many contemporaries saying nice or less nice words about the mastermind and only constant in the band, the guitar hero Zele Lipovača, who is a legend in the rock scene for all ex Yugoslavia states and wider. But, what this book lacks, are some more anecdotes and more behind the scene touring stories and more interesting reads, not only naming facts who produced the album, who was in then line-up of the band and so. One more thing that is really bothering are some typing mistakes, for example book says Anasthasia(thrash metal band from Zagreb, Croatia), but the band is really called Anesthesia, this mistake is mentioned couple of times in the book, another example is Cinderalla, but the band is called Cinderella(legendary glam metal band from USA). There are more mistakes like that throughout this book. I bought this book in Croatian language in Rockmark store from Zagreb, but I would recommend to you, go read something more interesting.
