Dead Pollys from Stockholm have invited the legends The Vibrators for a common summer tour, “Summer of Punk / Sweden 2019”. The tour starts in Stockholm on June 27th and ends in Linköping July 6th. Six dates are ready at the time of writing. The Vibrators are known for the song “Baby Baby” and their first gig was as support to The Stranglers. They have also played with both Sex Pistols and Iggy Pop. Dead Pollys have members from bands like Sighstens Grannar and Sir Reg. In 2015, Dead Pollys toured the USA with Dave Smalley and his band Down By Law. In February 2019 they released the album “Strummerland” via Too Loud Records.

(record review)MILLENCOLIN-SOS(Epitaph)

Millencolin was one of the most important bands to the kids in our scene, my hometown and the region here in the 90-ies. I am very happy that they are still around and they are still up and kicking with the brand new album which I reviewed for this zine.

cover

Its been a couple of years since the last one, so I didn´t know what to expect with the new music. Millencolin are for me one of those bands that are better sounding on the albums than live, so I love their albums very much, but I don´t like their shows so much. The new album contains 12 nice songs of melodic 90-ies punkrock which takes me back to the time when I was a kid and all I wanted was to rock and hang out with my brothers and sisters. 25 years have passed, but I am still that kid in my heart. When the first single, the title song came out, I had the chorus of that song immediately in my ear and hummed it all day long and still do now. There is the quartet of awesome great songs on this record being the title song, Carry On, Nothing(my personal favorite), and Sour Days which are true punkrock anthems. The rest of the material is not so good as those mentioned above, but enough to make this a good album, one of those that grows better and better to your heart every listening. If you love your punkrock fast, without complicating, anthemic, grab this new album by this Swedish legends.

The machine is starting up again for CJ Ramone, and today you can head over to our YouTube page to listen to a brand-new song! “Blue Skies,” is the first single off his new album, The Holy Spell…, out May 10th and available for pre-order nowCJ Ramone made his name as a member of (arguably) the greatest punk band of all time, and nearly 25 years after that experience, it’d be understandable if CJ now spent his days resting on his legacy and tsk-tsking the state of punk rock. Instead, The Holy Spell…CJ’s third full-length for FAT, joyfully celebrates his undiminished love of music. It’s right there in the title.

“I never lost that magical feeling that you get from music, and that’s where the title came in,” he says. “The bands that I listened to when I was young that I really enjoyed, I can still put that music on now, and it still has the same magic for me.”

You’ll be able to witness the magic live with not only CJ Ramone, but with fellow labelmates, Mean Jeans! They’ll be tearing up the West Coast on a bout of record release shows at the end of May. Head here for all the dates and info!
