Constant touring and the support of fans have enabled Unwritten Law to rise above the glut of rock and punk bands that have saturated the scene since Green Day exploded in the mid-’90s. Songs like “Harmonic” and “Teenage Suicide” show a depth …of songwriting and arrangement that few other bands of the genre obtain. Scott Russo sings tight vocals over an extremely impressive killer rhythm section. “Cailin” became a staple on modern rock radio stations. Outstanding tracks include “Coffin Text,” “Lonesome,” and “Holiday.” UNWRITTEN LAW is a strong record from an extremely talented outfit.

SLENDERS REVEAL A VIDEO FOR THE NEW SINGLE “CLOSE TO” NEW ALBUM “ANGRY YOUTH” OUT ON FEBRUARY 15TH

2ae4af3e-1a5b-4521-8181-d8ef9ea39bab

Italian pop-punk act Slenders has revealed a video for “Close To”, first single taken from the album “Angry Youth” out on February 15th via This Is Core. The video – directed by Lucerna Films – was filmed between Sardinia and Genova, the track was recorded at Lambda Studio by Simone Dettori. About the new song, the band says: “‘Close To’ is the first track taken from our new album ‘Angry Youth’. This song is an enormous outburst for us, an outlet against a world that we live and see every day. This song is intended to be a journey within the life of an immigrant from his point of view. It denounces a political system that creates a common enemy in racism, fueled by hatred and ignorance. Is it really worth one more life than another? In 2018 died about 13,000 people in our shores. Souls, broken lives swallowed by the sea. We dedicate this song to them. We say stop to this. This is not a political question, but a question of humanity, and ‘Close To’  wants to be the voice of those who do not have it”.

(record review)DEAD CITY ROCKERS-Dawn of the dead city rockers

New Zealand has a great punk and horrorpunk scene that I recently discovered. Before I only knew of Horror Story and I am sorry that I didn`t discover other awesome bands our there on the other end of the globe.

2 panel purple cover

Dead City Rockers are horrorpunk band with members of Horror Story in its ranks and this release was recorded a while ago, to be correct in 2006.but it is available only now. I am not sure, but I think that this band is not active anymore, but the music legacy continues on despite everything good or band that happens in our lives. This record contains 12 songs. The music of Dead City Rockers can be described as horrorpunk wih pretty melodic songs and I can also hear a lot of doowop and 50-ies music influences in their classic style of horrorpunk. I love doowop  and I am always happy when some band uses it in their music as an influence because it just creates such nice atmospheric melody and mood that I get goosebumps on my skin. The production of the record is a bit greasy and darkened so it adds to the somber melody of horrorpunk carnage on this record. Vocally, it is not Misfits clone, or Danzig clone, but the singer evolved his own style reminding me a lot of Trevor from American Werewolves, the band I love so much. This album will satisfy both the fans of more harsher sounding horrorpunk a la early Cancerslug, but also fiends who crave for their dose of horrorpunk melody.
