(review) El Sancho – Our Part in the Darkness

OurPartintheDarkness600-p1spf17borgxigqgbzy175zad1ohukih1yfrn3li0g

Music really has no boundaries, no matter how many miles we are apart from each other and El Sancho is a punk rock band from Big Island, Hawaii. They have been playing in bands since nineties and this one was formed in 2018.

This is band´s first full length album and what a great debut it is. The record contains 8 songs of pretty political punk rock, which is no wonder with that blonde madman being in control of States until recently, so El Sancho, voluntarily or involuntarily wrote and release rather political debut album. The music of El Sancho reminded me a bit of old school punk bands from UK, production wise and in style of playing, yet also of bands like Descendents and All with adding hearty melody and epic backing vocal harmonies to the song structures. Vocals are rough yet melodic and fit perfectly to the songs and my favorites like Color Blind, Holding Down The Fort and How To Kill A Zombie or title song are just fantastic songs making me listen and smile. Also, do not be mistaken by my mentioning of personal highlights, whole record is really strong and cool debut from this band. Nice one, indeed.

(review) Blast Bomb – Rock ´n´Roll Junkie (Undead Artists Records)

Front

Blast Bomb from Hamburg, Germany are in now way strangers to the pages of this zine, having reviewed their previous two awesome releases. This time they hit us with new e.p. out with Undead Artists Records, great label with so many super releases.

What do we have on this record? Four songs of energetic punk rock mixed with garage and rock n roll influences, having enough harshness, yet also enough melody to make you pump your fist in the air and enjoy the ferocity and energy of the songs presented by the band. The musicianship is great, production too, vocals are just the way they should for such music, singing yet having that rough edge and delivering melody with danger so to say haha. For me, my highlights on this record are Go Away and Bullet Proof.

Finnish metalcore metal band I AT LAST released a new single Wake. The track is taken from the upcoming debut EP Magenta which is released on March 26th 2021 via Inverse Records.

Watch Wake video: https://youtu.be/DDDcM5czPX4

Although I AT LAST declare themselves representatives of the metalcore genre, the EP embodies the band’s distinctive sound, breaking the prejudices associated with said genre. “Influences for the EP can be found in several different genres, but in the end when someone asks what I AT LAST sounds like, I would say it sounds like us. The sound of ‘Magenta’ creates a good overall picture of who we are and what kind of music we want to create.”, says the band’s guitarist Roope Lappalainen. The five-track “Magenta” EP reaches just over 26 minutes and is released entirely in digital form.
