(review) Detësto – 2020 Studio Trax

a3130091496_10

There was no crust hardcore punk on the pages of this zine for a while now. Detësto are hailing from Brazil and are playing just that.

These five songs are released on Bandcamp but, there are plans to release them on seven inch and also on tape this year. So, what to expect? Dirty and raw crust d-beat hardcore punk, done in an old school way, powerful and with conviction. The song structures are simple, containing all the right stuff this genre has to offer, yet still remaining good listening. I usually become bored when crust hardcore punk albums last too long, because all the songs start to be similar to each other but these five are just the right listening for pumping your fist in the air and delivering apocalypse of war, nuclear devastation, atomic radiation, death an all other merry themes of the lyrics. If you are a fan of such music, go listen to this one, you will not be sorry.

(review) Hangtime/Altitude/The Huile – PCT Musique Split Vol 9

The good people of PCT Musique label continue to release great stuff. Their splits introduced many awesome band from the scene that I didn´t know before. But this time it is a full punch in the eye with this ninth split release of three bands. Hangtime are my personal favorites and one of the best bands I have ever listened, especially in last ten years or so. I already reviewed their e.p. and interviewed them for this zine. For those that don´t already know, Hangtime play melodic punk rock mixed with pop punk and their sweet melodies, super choruses and harmonies, topped with great lyrics are about to win any punk rock heart. Their four songs are just making me play on repeat over and over again. Altitude are from Belgium and they deliver four songs of epic, melodic punk rock with lots of pop punk influences, more of 2000s melodic punk style and they do it great and I really enjoyed discovering this great band. They are a bit faster in some songs, more skatepunk like in awesome Riley. The Huile are from France and their four songs are a bit shorter and a bit different sounding, like nineties punk rock drawn from noise and alternative and indie influences, sounding definitely interesting and a bit different than previous two bands, sometimes even a little bit weird haha but that diversity is beauty of our scene.

So, go and support PCT Musique and get some really wonderful music!

(review) Resto Basket – Trajectoire

Resto Basket are punk band from France. This is their brand new release., the band´s second album. There are eight songs on this one, all being sung in French. I don´t mind that I don´t understand a word, but let the music speak for itself.

The music of Resto Basket can be described as energetic punk rock, more of melodic kind that I love so much. The vocals are nice, neither too mellow, nor too harsh, backing vocal harmonies are nicely done. Guitar work and melodies are great, but what makes this band in my opinion a bit different from the others of the genre, are temporary excursions into some weird guitar and bass parts of the songs, like suddenly going mad or bringing a bit of noise influenced music into song structures. At least that is the way I hear it while listening to the record. If I must name some songs as my highlights of this record, that would be Le Stop, Peter Pan, Zero Zero and Piste Noire. Damn, that is already half of the record. Go support and listen if you love your punk rock melodic and energetic.
