Steel Bridges is a melodic punk-metal project from Quebec City.
Inspired by punk-rock bands such as Strung-Out, Pennywise, Lagwagon, Millencolin, 88 Fingers Louie, as well as metal bands like Gamma Ray, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, etc., Steel Bridges is sure to please the fast technical punk music fans.
Steel Bridges is a DIY independent solo studio project by Philippe Routhier, who does everything related to Steel Bridges. He plays all of the instruments, compose every songs, does everything from the recording, mixing, mastering, distribution, etc. He does all the art, photos, videos, texts. He even talks about himself and about his work at the third person.
Rémi Julien (probably the biggest punk japanese wrestling fan in America)  wrote lyrics for the initially instrumental song “Last Horizon”. This is the first Steel Bridges track with lyrics. Check that out!

(review) Don`t sleep – turn the tide (mission two entertainment)

Punk rock scene legend Dave Smalley (DYS, All, Down By Law, Dag Nasty…) is back forming this new band called Don`t Sleep with members of The Commercials and Junction. They just released new record with Mission Two Entertainment.

The new record contains 12 songs of fierce melodic punk rock with harsh edge, personal lyrics that anyone can relate to, beautiful melodies and Smalley sounds better and more convincing than ever and his voice did not falter for a note with years, like good wine hehe. This is mainly mid tempo punk rock but also there are some faster hardcore rapid fire outbursts like fantastic Abandoned Us. This band in fact sounds like an amalgamation of all Smalley˙s previous bands and efforts, so you just can not go wrong if you love melodic punk and you are looking for a great band to listen to over and over again. Good one. Recommended songs: We Remain, Abandoned Us, True North.

(review) A Gathering of None-Give Up The Ghost

a2050027620_10

A Gathering of None started as a one man project by TB from Blitzkid, sometime in 2011 when those legends were going towards their end which happened in 2012 and TB wanted to do something new and inspiring. In time, it evolved into full band. This is the latest 6 song e.p.

The music of A Gathering of None is breaking all the boundaries and is situated somewhere between horror punk, metal and punk rock. Of course, there is no escape from horror punk influences and awesome melodies like in Maybe Someday, being at the same time horror punk anthem but also having nice metallic touch and groove to the riffs. Also, TB is one of my favorite vocals in the scene and his voice makes every song even more special. My other personal favorite on this record is Weed Them Out to which I can totally relate lyrically and personally, also being fantastic song musically, with that bass solo and heavy rolling drums through the song ending. Rise(One Last Grasp At Hope) is a ballad, which left goosebumps on my skin, with lyrics, atmosphere and all, especially with me being at the lowest point of my life this year since February and no, not due to that covid shit. There should be a new release in December, so have a listen to this excellent e.p. until that time.
