Finnish metal newcomer Koitos released a third single ‘Virtaa’ (eng.’Flows’), from the upcoming debut album. Song has more dynamics and it includes crushing riffs but also a delicate clean singing with a mellow piano.

‘The upcoming album deals with loneliness from many different angles. But in this song not in such a traditional way. The narrator of the song hides his mistakes under a hard shell, which emerges as crappy behavior towards others. In the end, people disappear around the narrator and he’s left to lick his wounds in solitude,’ describes the theme of the song by vocalist Matti Hiitti.

Koitos debut album will be released later in Autumn. In addition to the composition and lyrics, the song was recorded and produced entirely by the band itself. The song was mixed and mastered by Rami Nykänen, who has previously worked with bands like One Morning Left and Balance Breach.

(news – festivals) Time To Rock Festival 2023 – don’t forget about them!

They just want to say hi and hope you don’t forget them at TIME TO ROCK FESTIVAL in southern Sweden. They are usually never included in lists of summer festivals and since they are, after all, a kick ass rock festival since 2006, they hope that before this Summer they can be included in the fine room, together with all the other awesome festivals on your lists.

This year, they’ve also stepped up considerably in terms of bands and band budget, and they’re sitting on a completely world-exclusive trilogy with the legendary Tom G Warrior, who will perform over three days with unique gigs with songs of HELLHAMMERCELTIC FROST and TRIPTYKON. Then they have three punk legends in the form of THE TOY DOLLS, MARKY RAMONE and SHAM 69 and of course classic hard rock and heavy metal in the form of SAXON, BLIND GUARDIAN and MICHAEL SCHENKER mixed with party music with D-A-D, ALESTORM and THE HOOTERS and much, much more.

3 Days – 3 scenes + pre-party on July 7 in scenic Knislinge, 130 km from Malmö/Copenhagen, located along the beautiful Helge River

Finland’s folk black metallers KOUTA reveal ‘Kaarnaköydet’ album details; watch the visualizer video of ‘Häpeä’!

The Finnish folk black metal act KOUTA comes back with a new album, one year after the big success of the debut ‘Aarnihauta‘.  ‘Kaarnaköydet’ – this is the name of the band’s first full-length – will be released on April 21 and it will be available as CD, streaming, and digital download.

The 7 new songs weave a dark and intricate web of sound that is both familiar and refreshingly new. Folk elements have permeated the new sound much more deeply, while the production has become much more clear, powerful, and straight. At the heart of ‘Kaarnaköydet’ lies a gripping narrative centered around the tragic story of two brothers. Through their music, KOUTA explores the complex and often tumultuous emotions of shame, guilt, and catharsis, inviting the listener to join them on a powerful and emotional journey of aesthetically peripheral discovery.

The new single ‘Häpeä‘ is now available on the main digital platforms as well as a visualizer video on band’s YouTube channel.

‘Häpeä‘ deepens the three-part story that serves as the backbone of the new album. The song was chosen as the first single and the opening song for the band’s gigs due to its unforgiving and unconventional nature. It deepens the story of fratricide by exploring the state of mind of someone who has just killed a loved one.

‘I wanted the song to reflect this brutality and emotion, so musically Häpeä is grim and cold,‘ summarizes Eemeli Haarala.

The drum parts of ‘Kaarnaköydet‘ were recorded in a remote cabin in Lapland. Guitars and bass recorded at Pekka Posio’s studio in Helsinki. Vocals, choirs and all other instruments together with the live recording of “Äitimaan Laulu” recorded at Sonic Pump Studios, Helsinki. Mixed by Pekka Posio and mastered by Svante Forsbäck.

Line-Up:

Antti Mäki – Vocals

Eemeli Haarala – Guitar

Lauri Törmä – Guitar, Clean Vocals

Arttu Pentikäinen – Bass, Clean Vocals

Ville Vitikka – Drums
