(review) Venerea – The Shit Hits The Fans

There was a time in the nineties when we thought that Swedes have melodic punk as class in school with so many bands coming from that country. Venerea are veterans of melodic skatepunk/hardcore and they recently released their new full length. Yes, you guessed it, the Swedes play melodic skatepunk hardcore with superb vocal lines, fantastic harmonies and anthemic songwriting, not unlike Satanic Surfers, if I must compare them to some band. Songs like Rise With The Tide, No Rules But My Rules, Living It For The Moment are sure to win you over with awesome musicianship and songs that just make you wanna listen to them over and over again. This is for sure one of the best releases in this genre to come out this year.

(review) Billy Idol – The Roadside

New music from punk rock icon Billy Idol is finally out. This new e.p. contains four songs featuring iconic long time associate guitarist Steve Stevens. Rita Hayworth is a straightforward punk rock song reminding me of old days when I was a kid rocking with this icon s songs all day long. This new e.p. was done in a lockdown pandemic period so it is personal and introspective, especially in awesome Bitter Taste which is personal favorite of mine. U Dont Have To Kiss Me Like That is classic Billy song, more rock oriented and kinda cheerful. Baby Put Your Clothes Back On is a slower, melodic kinda ballad like wicked little song to close this e.p. It will be interesting when new full length comes out.

(review) Ignite – Anti-Complicity Anthem e.p.

When Zoli Teglas, former vocalist of Orange County s Ignite left the band everybody thought it is over with the band, me inclusive. Although bassist Brett is the only original member remaining in the band, I am so glad these melodic hardcore institution continued with teasing us on their social media with photos from studio, recording new music and keeping new voice secret, making me guess who the heck is it. We only knew it is not Zoli again. But, I never imagined Eli Santana of Holy Grail would be their choice. This guy has one of the nicest voices I have heard in a long time. This new e.p. contains new song, being title song and great video full of energy and it is so great to have more uptempo hardcore Ignite with energy, melody and great lyrics with superb melodies. The other song is a remake of an old classic taken from debut album. I can t wait for the new album, I have the feeling it is going to be superb.
