(review) ZOMBIESUCKERS-HUNT YOU DOWN

a3873335145_10

Halloween and that special time of the year is close, so more and more horrorpunk is featured on the pages of this zine. This time, our Sweden favorite horrorpunk band Zombiesuckers delivered their new e.p.

Everyone who loves horrorpunk will find here what they are looking for. That means ultra melodic yet harsh punk riffs backed by clever use of keyboards that add to the atmosphere of old school horror movies, lots of ooohs and aaahs for singing along to backing vocal harmonies and some nice metal influences in guitar riffs and last but not least, gore soaked lyrics filled with horror.

The vocals are superb, avoiding the trap that some young horrorpunk bands do, that being bad clones of Danzig˙s voice, no, this guy sings with such superb voice being fantastic part of the songs. My personal favorites of these five songs are the title song, Hotel and Demons.

Fantastic, like we are used to from this horror from the north!

(review) Abstract Dream – A Vision Among the Stars

folder

Abstract Dream is a side project from Swann of Shandrazel and Dark Arkana. There are 6 songs on this record. The music of Abstract Dream is French atmospheric black metal with longer songs creating primitive, anguished, almost ritualistic atmosphere through repeating guitar riffs, fast drums and growling/screeching vocals, yet returning to calmer atmospheric keyboard passages which are calming and soothing, yet at the same time warning about the storm coming.

The songwriting is well crafted, epic and my favorite song on this record would be A Journey To The Unknown having that mid tempo melodic atmosphere, you can almost feel the night cold on your skin while listening to this one. Also, some songs are very long, but they do not get boring for one second, because the atmosphere of the whole record reminds me why I love black metal so much, because through this music you can have right feeling, right atmosphere, almost cathartic, yet also inspiring. So, this is a good record.

(review) superhero status-20/20 (wtf records)

3. WTF-046 cover

WTF Records never cease to amaze with quality new releases and delivering awesome mainly European hardcore punk bands to the attention of the new fans worldwide. This time, Superhero Status are in order with their brand new e.p.

I must admit that I haven`t listened to great old school hardcore for a long time and I am really happy that this record came into my hands. This is just it. Old school positive hardcore like we knew and loved when we were kids growing up with anthemic touch, melody and energy flying all over. There are four songs on this record, one being awesome cover of Iron Maiden-Wasted Years. For me, my personal favorites are True To Our Believes and Miles And Changes, also Never Left with that old school begin of the song that made goosebumps on my skin like a time machine taking me back to the times when I was a kid and reminding me why I love hardcore so much still after all these years. This is a fantastic e.p., I really want to listen to the full length soon.
