(review) JX ARKET-About Existence(Antigony Records)

Antigony Records released the new album by JX ARKET, the band from Turin, Italy. This band was formed in 2016.and they play a mixture of post hardcore with melodic emotional hardcore punk like bands from end of the 90-ies, early 2000-s used to play. This album is beautiful and it suits me just right on this sunset as I write these lines. There are seven songs on the record and some of them are crushing with their rolling drums, thundering guitars, sad screams and turning into fantastic melodies bringing melancholy to the front of the song structure.  Weeping Willow, Void And Pain, also Mountains are somehow the highlights of the album for me. I would like to say that vocalist impressed me very much being able to deliver brutality, melancholy and sadness with aggression at the same time. This album is one of the jewels in the crown of the Italian underground scene, so go grab it and have a listen, you will not regret it!

(review) Off With Their Heads-Be Good(Epitaph)

Minneapolis based Off With Their Heads released their brand new full length album with Epitaph. This record contains 11 epic melodic emotional punkrock songs done with heart and kicking you right in heart and mind and bringing tears of sadness with a touch of melancholy combined with smiling and hope on your face and making you say thanks a lot for loving punkrock, loving this music and loving this band. The vocalist has one of the nicest voices that I ever heard in punkrock sounding harsh and melodic and sad at the same time. This is your melodic mid tempo, maybe even slow punkrock with some indie influences, I can even hear some doo wop and also pop in the song structures. I love all the songs, but if I must mention my favorites that would be: Disappear, Take Me Away, Let It All and Locking Eyes. For sure, one of the best albums to come out this year.

NEXØ are hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark and this is one of the strongest debut albums that I have listened lately.  These guys are playing noisy, energetic, old school hardcore punk with fast drumming, vocals screamed at the top of the lungs, great bass lines that sometimes lead the song, like in The Chemical Generation, sometimes noisy parts and above all, full of energy, honesty, smart lyrics and leaves you wanting more and jumping all around your room while playing this record. There are 9 songs on this record, but my favorites are Ecstasy, 1312. Mostly Harmless and Break The Bank. As I said, the lyrics are great, dealing with police brutality, modern slavery, drugs, hard life and other nice themes fit for hardcore punk bands. Great and strong debut album and I heartily recommend this one for all the fans of fantastic diy hardcore punk.
