(record review)THE LUCITONES-Three Moons(Batcave Records)

Batcave Records continues its triumphant crusade by giving us awesome psychobilly releases, this time I listened and reviewed for our zine the new record by The Lucitones.

cover

Formed in 2015.in Montana, these guys play catchy, contagious like the zombie outbreak, melodic punkrock psychobilly. This new record contains 12 songs. If I must compare the music to some bands, then it would be like a mixture of Koffin Kats, The Rocketz and Stellar Corpses. After the instrumental Bulletproof, the album provides killer tunes like Her Crypt In The Woods or The Temptress, with beautiful haunting melodies in the song verses, great vocals made for singing along, then the anthemic choruses join in, which just make you wanna listen to the record more and more. Most of the songs on this record make me wish that I have wrote them, how good they are. The title track reminds me with its vibe of some old school Hammer horror movie. To sum up the impressions, I love this record, it is awesome!

(record review)Brix´n Mortar-Freshcut(single)

This trio is formed in 2018.and they play their version of oi with hardcore/punk and they do it pretty good. This single features two songs. Besides the title song which is a true blood pumping oi/streetpunk song starting slowly and evolving the guitar melody into tight streetpunk with hardcore guitar background. What I love about this band are dual vocals, one harsh street oi and second more melodic one. The harsh voiced singer reminds me a lot of Discipline from Holland and I love it. The title song lyrics are about friendship, going to shows, proving yourself in the scene and singing along with Micky Fitz, may he rest in power. Awesome song. The kinda b-side of the single is Suburban Murders starting nicely with piano and guitar melody like some ballad. But, don´t be fooled, this is superb melodic streetpunk anthem, I still get goosebumps when listening to this one. The lyrics to this one are more personal about love and pride, being what you really are. I love the sound of the voice and harmony of the girl who did the backing vocals for this song. For me, this one is better than the title song. I can´t wait for the full album!

(record review)ALL HOPE REMAINS-Feel The Fire e.p.

All Hope Remains are melodic hardcore punk band from Australia, I listened and reviewed for our zine their new e.p.

cover

Hailing from Surfcoast Victoria, Australia these guys play melodic hardcore with skatepunk thrown in for good measure. This record contains 8 songs one being intro Prelude and they play nothing new or very special, but they play nice melodies and awesome song structures make this e.p. a very pleasurable experience. The lyrics are a mix of personal or political stance with the heart and soul emotions behind everything. The vocals are very important in such bands to me, and All Hope Remains have one of the better vocalists for such music, coupled with cool back vocal harmonies and guitar riffing. Some songs are more fast paced and straightforward, some are midtempo punkrock/hardcore. Recommended songs: Feel The Fire, Hit Rewind.
