(record review)UNIFORMS-Reasons To Breathe(Make That A Take Records/TNSrecords)

Uniforms are punk band from the east coast of Scotland. This is their new record out on Make That A Take Records and TNSrecords and I listened and reviewed it for our zine.

cover

Formed in 2011.these guys spent four years recording, touring and playing more than 200 gigs in UK, USA and Europe. They disbanded in 2015. Now, reformed in late 2017.with new vigour and strength they released their new e.p. with four songs. The music Uniforms play is melodic punkrock, but not fast skatepunk or technical stuff, but melodic and heartfelt punkrock with emotions behind the songs and done in a way that will appeal to the ears of every fan of such music. I am going to say that although all four songs on the record are great, two songs were highlights for me. Those are My Wise Friend and Searchlights. The vocals are rough but at the same time melodic and when you listen to the songs, the music somehow pulls you in and soothes you but at the same time gives you that warm punk energy to flow through your body. Welcome back Uniforms, nice to have you again on the scene.

(record review) Dry Life-Consumindo Ignorancia

South America has an awesome, vastly undiscovered and big underground hardcore punk scene. Dry Life are coming from Brasil and I listened and reviewed their new record.

cover

The record contains 12 songs and the music these guys play is melodic hardcore. By melodic hardcore I don´t mean here Californian skatepunk style, more of a melodic hardcore with punkrock influences and the songs and melodies made me sad and somber during listening. I know that this should not be the case, but that just happened.  I don´t understand what the guys are singing about, because all the lyrics are in Portuguese language but as I get the titles it is a mix of personal and political lyrics. The vocals are nice, neither shouted nor cheesy, so they fit with the music really, really well. The backing vocals and harmonies are also done like they should be done. For me, the highlights of the album are Sorrisos Perfeitos and Moda.

Nice record, get and listen to this one, the miles should not divide us, because the great music will always connect us!

(record review)MENAGRAMO-“Doubleunicumnoice”

Menagramo is an acoustic/country punk band from Brianza, Italy. I listened and reviewed their record for this webzine.

As their page states, this is a duo that plays acoustic, country influenced punk. This record contains five melodic and beautiful songs. Besides having excellent melodies, the songs also have smart and great lyrics with personal themes, like suicide, failed relationships, going out, death, and yes, as I understood this record it is kind of concept album about death, life and living the best way you can. That is my opinion it does not necessary have to be yours. Have a listen and form your own opinion. My favorite song on this record is “Basement” but all the others are also awesome. This is a strong record and worth your time to spin it a couple of times. The record is free on Bandcamp, but drop some dime or at least write a word or two to the guys if you liked the record, I am sure they will appreciate it a lot.
